    This would be ideal...cavs-lakers-pels 3-way deal. I still can't believe we gave them all those future picks and swaps and it was just..GIVEN to them...and we didn't even get the date extended?

    Man...Ramona going on The Jump earlier and saying all of that plus Tania's report from LA Times has really discouraged me on what the Lakers are trying to do here. I think that Rob was just trying to get AD and then figure the rest out later...he was probably confident that he could dump Wagner/Bonga so that we could match salaries in the AD trade but it looks like he blew his load too soon and now everyone is laughing at us....again.

    AD needs to waive his damn trade bonus, and then we'll just have to dump Wagner/Bonga elsewhere and we'll get to about $29.4M i believe. It's not ideal, but it's close enough to the max. Then you try and convince Kawhi or Kyrie to come for slightly less and do a 2+1 deal with them...make up the difference in lost $ in their contracts through endorsements, and tada! Everyone is happy.

    But seriously, I am not liking this one bit that we dropped the ball on the execution of this. Summer League just HAD to be July 5-15 didn't it? Earliest we could complete the deal is July 20th..only 2 weeks after July 6th. Unreal. I hope we can make this work somehow but I'm less optimistic now...

    Gonna be a crazy day today to what happens with the #4. If a third is found and we can latch on Wagner/Bonga/Jones, that'll open up even more space for us.

    Minny has a trade exception they can absorb Wagner with.

    ^^*I agree, it's projected to be a crazy night. So many teams with multiple picks this year and pair that with the upcoming free agency circus. It's going to be wild.

    Minny is kind of a poor 3rd team cause they don't have cap space (if they take in the 4th, that's a 7.1m caphold on their books now for whatever they swap out) and as an over the cap team need to rely on that trade exception to absorb salary without sending any out...unless the Pels want to take in that salary for us.

    I believe we can send Wagner into MIN's trade exception and cut Jones (non-guaranteed deal) which will get us really really close to matching salaries IF AD waives his trade kicker right?

    Basically, we have to find a taker for Wagner, Bonga, and Jones (Jones could really be waived cause he's non-guaranteed.) Whether it's a straight up trade, or a third team in the Pelicans trade, the salary needs to go out so that the 125% rule doesn't apply to the trade because the salaries in the trade don't match, then Davis needs to waive his kicker as well. Obviously, getting a 2nd rounder for either of those guys would be nice because those guys won't need to count against our cap and come cheap.
