Thought he could've been something special. I was a big advocate for him when he was with the Lakers. Had all the athleticism, size, and tools to be a good player. Didn't have it between the ears. And obviously he was involved with some very unsavory characters. If he had surrounded himself around a better group of people, maybe he'd still be living life as a NBA athlete, making millions. Instead, he's going to spend the next two decades for a gang hit gone wrong. Sad and pathetic. Glad the woman's family is getting some justice.

How does someone join a gang in their 20's?

You and me both. At the time I thought his ceiling was something along the lines of a poor man's Billups. What a knucklehead he turned out to be.

A lot were in gangs earlier in life. Blood in blood out. ESPN did a show on NBA players with gang ties. Stacey Augmon was rumored to be a gang member and he was in the league a long time.

I found that strange too, that he would join a gang after getting a big payday signing to the Lakers. I don't get the motivation at that time. Very odd. That's when you would want to distance yourself from that kind of thing. Just shows you he was messed up in the head though with that kind of decision making.

That's what I found weird too. Well he helped us get Pau at least.
