yep. it's not trying to make the lakers give up everything, it's trying to make the deal fall apart. ainge wants this to drag into july, thinking he might be able to make something happen between then and now (either convince kyrie to stay in conjunction with an AD pickup or moving other parts to make the team more enticing).

 

btw, my favorite part of this is how the fans and media are going to go from "the lakers don't have anything useful" to "the lakers gave up too much". will it be overnight, a flip switching, or a gradual shift in reporting? you know it's coming.

While I love Brandon and Kyle, NONE of those two are going to be able to affect the game on both ends of the court the way AD does. You can argue that AD's defense (when healthy, to be fair) is much more effective than those two combined.

I'm just going to say this one last thing, because it seems once the two sources I've heard from @Mr. Rambis and a respected user on the Lakers Reddit, RDAmbition, have posted similar stories about the framework of the trade being pretty much done, just trying to navigate the final pieces.
