Not just directed at you KH. So are we saying Mr. Rambis is making stuff up for clarity here? Always a possibility there .... stay vigilant. But if willing to enjoy the other "seeming" inside stuff not being reported elsewhere at first .... then looking at the players today, assuming IN could draft worth a poop ...
Julius Randle, Larry Nance Jr, Jordan Clarkson, the 27th and 28th picks in the draft (Kuzma and Hart as we drafted) ..... we didn't lowball the s*** out of IN.

I went back and edited to say my comment is directed at possibly an accepted "myth" around here. Rather than just JR, Clarkson and filler it was Nance as well, a solid pro player and 2 picks at 28 and 29. Most scouting depts. should have found a couple nice pieces there as well.

People have been saying that if we want to keep our max slot, we would have to verbally agree to the deal but then not make it official until August 1st after signing #4.

But has anything like that ever happened? I don’t recall seeing a trade live as a verbal agreement for so long without being official. Is that even legal under the CBA? Would both teams have to remain quiet about such an agreement?

I’d also just feel paranoid if that happened that New Orleans would end up changing their mind or something before the deal becomes official.

I think my preferred scenario might be to try to pull off the trade while maintaining a few assets such that we can make it official now and still have a decent amount of cap room (albeit not a max).

Maybe something like BI, Hart, Wagner, Bonga, #4, 2 future picks for AD. We would have to give up the dreams of a super team trio with another max superstar, but we still have Lonzo and Kuz and enough cap space to add a few quality pieces (my ideal scenario would be Bogdonovic, Lopez, and Beverly)

I have to check the math, but I also feel like although we wouldn’t have a readily available max slot with such a trade, we might still be able to get there. For example, say Kyrie or Kawhi let us know they’re down to come but need a max, we could then trade Zo in a salary dump which should free up enough for a max or at least close to it.

Woj on ESPN just now on the Pelicans: “they would like to get a deal done before..well before next Thursday’s draft. New Orleans is engaged with several teams right now, the Lakers remain aggressive in here to try to get a deal done”.

I'm both shocked and relieved that none of our trade offers have been leaked like last time. If NONE of our offers get leaked until the trade actually happens, then we will know that Magic/Demps leaked the trade details to the media to gain leverage on each other. I hope Griffin can push this through and get a fair deal as well. The best deals are ones where both sides feel like they won. I don't want to rip these guys off and hopefully they don't rip us off...because we may be engaged with them int he future for Zion lol

Just had time to type this and have to jet out in a minute... but got a hint that Lakers are internally putting together another offer for AD and finalizing a few points. Don't know who's involved or how many teams. You should hear about it in the coming days, unless Griffin is hellbent on keeping it quiet while he negotiates.

    I'll know more later today/tomorrow.

Zion is from duke and Ingram is from duke.

Draft Cam Reddish for them which from duke.

Give em Wagner and Bonga to sweeten the pot then finally close the deal with 2 unprotected 1st future round picks.

    That's fair.

Griffin isn't Demps. Demps was the one who leaked our trade package to the media because he was spiting us. That made us look bad and the Pelicans look bad.

Griffin has more dignity to not let anything come out and let that happen to the Pelicans, otherwise, no one's gonna want to deal with them.

Guys I know we want to give up the least amount possible but I just don't see it happening. We are going to give up a good amount but it's likely going to be worth it especially since the more we give, the more cap space we get to nab a max FA. If we have LeBron AND Davis to begin free agency...do you really think Kyrie will turn us down? And is that enough to sway Kawhi Leonard our way? At the very least, we're going to get one of those two OR we're filling out the roster with shooters and ring chasers that fit LeBron/AD perfectly.

If you get LeBron/AD/Kyrie or LeBron/AD/Kawhi or heck LeBron/AD/Butler...that team is likely in the WCF at the very least...likely in the finals.

Here’s the video of that earlier Woj quote. I’m trying not to get my hopes up, but combining all these things, the Pelicans motivated to get a deal done now, the Lakers wanting AD badly and having the assets and the top 5 pick, the Vegas odds, I’m starting to feel like this gets done, even if it means we give up more than some here are wanting to.

If we have Kuzma and Hart when the dust settles along with Lebron and AD, I will sleep easy until free agency....at which point my butt will start sweating again.
