If anything, it actually should make us Laker fans more confident that he wants out. My guess is that this (especially the public nature of it all) was orchestrated by Dennis to start placing a greater emphasis on taking charge of Kawhi's branding. Exactly as I've been saying with this whole New Balance thing.

That being said, things have gone quiet since the Finals started. If I hear anything, I will let you know.

    Best,
    Mr. Rambis

Griffin signed the massive contract with the Clippers about the same time Jerry West was transitioning from GSW to LAC. It took West all of 6 months to size up the situation, see that Griffin was not a franchise building block, and ship him out for max value. It was a heartless but shrewd business move, and is the main reason that LAC is positioned so well right now.

The better inquiry was/ is why is West out there helping the Grizzlies become competitive, assisting GSW into become a dynasty and then helping LAC clean up their roster and position themselves for a big FA run? Why is he not a LAL exec right now?

If you dig a bit, the answers are out there, and they are not flattering to the Buss family. Sure hoping the smart people at AEG can step in and right the ship, because I have lost confidence in the Buss Family Circus.

Prozac: That's not the timeline, bro.

Jerry West was courted by the cLips in May 2017 and agreed to take the consultant position on June 15, 2017.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.latimes.com/sports/clippers/la-sp-clippers-jerry-west-20170615-story.html?outputType=amp

On June 30th, they gave Blake a cLipper mock retirement ceremony while employees wore Tshirts. He then agreed to remain a cLip4Life.

West's first bit of consulting for the cLips was to lock in an asset and use it as trade fodder. I would like to think the Tshirts weren't the Logo's idea tho.

Anyways, maybe Kawhi chooses the cLips, cause based off that t-shirt design, maybe the cLips can circumvent Nike and design a variant of his Klaw logo.

Are the reports I've heard that he recently bought a house in Toronto true?

Again, if we don't land him it sucks but if he's staying in TOR in the East I can live with it.

Dont want to sidetrack the thread too much, but what you're suggesting is that JW should have, within a 2 week period, stopped the already-well-on-its-way process of re-signing Griffin? Thats just not realistic, especially for a guy who is a consultant not the GM or VP. JW probably had an idea even then that Griffin was not all that and a bag of chips, but also realized that he would be a valuable trade chip for some dumb/ desperate GM/ franchise that could never sign a top FA. Clipps should be thanking Stan Van Gundy and Detroit for fulfilling that role for them.

    Not saying that at all.

The Logo was aware that Blake was an asset, either to keep or to trade. However the speed in which he was shipped out, should give Kawhi and any other free agents pause as to how the cLips and their stealthy consultant operate.

For example, the Blake trade brought in Tobias and he was offered an extension, yet he turned it down. The cLips proceeded to trade him thereafter. Now Tobias and his agent probably know that accepting an extension means less potential money in free agency, so there's that element. But I'm sure the way they did a potential cLipperLifer was also on his mind.

Also another narrative is how the cLips have locked in Lou and Trez into below market deals. So no matter how you want to look at it, the cLips haven't really done right by their players. I agree that's not all on the consultant, but he he is the highest paid consultant in all the land, so his voice certainly matters to their GM Lawrence Frank.

All valid points. Griffin has a legit beef, but I am not sure I am too sympathetic to Lou he signed with eyes wide open. Harrell only has another year on his deal I think.

Uh yeah the god damn clippers should have never been favored to begin with. Literally made no sense that they opened as favorites when the NBA finals began...

I guess the news of Kawhi buying a house in TOR changed the oddsmakers minds?

Has the Toronto home purchase been confirmed? Or is it just rumor at this point? Kinda weird to be buying a house in the middle of the finals, no? And especially before you've signed a contract extension.

I mean there’s 3 f****** days between every single Finals game, the players need to find something to do.
