    Hi Guys,

Small update from yesterday. A little late but regardless... very, very initial trade discussions have begun between Griffin and Pelinka, following the planned media leaks about the Griffin-Anthony meetings. Griffin's first ask was as follows...

    The Proposed Trade:
Lakers receive: Anthony Davis, possible fillers
Pelicans receive: Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Kyle Kuzma, Josh Hart, Mo Wagner, Isaac Bonga, #4 pick (Pelican's choice), 2 future firsts (unprotected), 2 future pick swaps

    Context:
First of all, I'm aware this likely doesn't work from a cap perspective. Again, these discussions are very early on, so salary cap is less of a consideration and things can be maneuvered to some degree. Also, realize this isn't a serious offer, and that's why it wasn't leaked to the media. Negotiations generally start with one side asking absurdly high, and moving down from there. It is a good sign that the Pelicans made the first concrete offer, as it puts the ball in the Lakers court.

    What happens Now:
Likely nothing for a while. Pelinka didn't really entertain this offer, and will either come back with something on the opposite end of the spectrum, or let Griffin try again. Once again, these negotiations aren't concrete but very exploratory. When things get serious, it'll get leaked, for other reasons.

    How I know about this:
Agents and financial advisors for Kuzma, Ingram, and Ball have been in AEG and the Laker's ears about how their future endorsement earnings will be impacted as they attempt to plan for the next year. Obviously, going to New Orleans dampens this income source significantly, so they want to be prepared. Also, AEG has reached out to the Lakers asking which young players they should expect to promote for the season opener, as these things require some degree of planning. So far, no response.

I'll keep you posted as I hear more, but don't take any of this too seriously, yet...

    Best,
    Mr. Rambis

LOL. Pelicans receive: Lakers entire remaining roster other than LeBron plus their incoming pick, plus their picks for the next couple years.

11 for 1 trade. Sounds vaguely familiar.

And somehow Knox, Ntilikina, DSJ, #3 and no Robinson is somehow "a legitimate offer." Boston isn't giving them Tatum with Kyrie leaving. NOLA really doesn't have any leverage here.

They're going to have to live with two of the 3 stars, the #4, and a protected 1st rounder. No more unprotected picks with the ways the new lottery works.

I think we should roll with our youth f*** the pelicans offer.

The most I'd offer is Ingram, Hart, Bonga Wagner 4th pick and future picks that's it.

That’s insane. Reminds me of the infamous Herschel Walker trade between the Vikings and Cowboys back in the day.

Thats probably a better package than what the Knicks deal looks like, as well as the C Bags. NOP overplayed their hand and as time passes, their leverage continues to diminish. Thanks to Del Demps for not saying yes to the deal Magic offered.

I'd give them either Kuz or Ball as well if need be. Not both though at this point.

I have a lack of confidence in this organization though. Can’t help but to feel we will get the short end of any trade. Either we will get rid of or acquire players that will make you scratch your head (see Zubac trade), or we will get who we want but at a hefty price.

Don’t get cute or overthink this. If we can make the deal for AD then do it.

i normally agree with you, and i'm in on the principle here, but...no. to me, this is about the long-long-term. we got absolutely clowned at the deadline by these jerks. i'm down with sending the message that when you do that, there are consequences. that should come from ownership. you don't get to air our dirty laundry and giggle. enjoy jalen brown and mid-firsts, losers.

I want AD real bad, but view it as a balance between short term and long term. Short term, he makes us very competitive with LBJ and perhaps another top flight FA. Long term (2 years) when LBJ's skills have diminished/ injuries set in etc, if we give up too much youth, we will have another problem to deal with.

This seems excessive, but I still do it as long as we get 2-3 players in return that have value.
Moore, Payton, Randle & Clarke are all decent role players..

I'd prefer to keep one of Lonzo, Ingram or Kuz out of the deal though..

Not really.. If you have AD + another Prime All Star.
Once LeBron is off the books, you can build on a 2 All Star foundation.
That's better than youth "potential" any Day.
