I think we will trade for someone even if its not AD. I don't see all the young guys being here next season but we will see.

Please sign super max extension and call it a day.

I don't want us distracted by the AD drama once again this summer. Focus on the draft, then free agency, and move on from this.

I want the exact opposite. Double down. Demand a trade. Leak information that it's Lakers or bust. LeBron and AD would be so damn imposing.

Man, this better be over quick (one way or the other). Can't waste months waiting for AD again...

If I'm the Lakers, I'm getting a deal in place (even if it's an overpay) and then walking into free agency meetings asking how does LA + playing with Lebron/AD sound to you. A big time free agent is going to turn that down? I don't think so.

    Here’s a thought.

Would it actually work in the Lakers’ favor if AD/Pelicans drag this out to the trade deadline?

I mean think about it. If they don’t trade AD in the summer, that means Boston loses some of their assets because they would use up their own draft picks. The moment you use the picks yourself, it loses its value because the other team might not want the player you picked or it turns out your pick can’t play.

Meanwhile, the Lakers can focus on free agency this summer. Let’s say they actually land Jimmy Butler or Kyrie. The Lakers start the season with the kids + Butler/Kyrie and a healthy LeBron.

Pelicans start off the season with AD and Zion. They still won’t be a playoff team because I guarantee Zion will mostly get his baskets off lobs only initially.

The trade deadline comes in February, this is when AD let’s it be known that he won’t re-sign with Pelicans in the summer and won’t sign with Boston. It eliminates Boston unless they truly dare to trade Tatum/Brown for a 3 month rental of AD.

Lakers just need to outbid any “risk takers”, get AD for the last 30 games of the season + playoffs. The Lakers would also be able to package some of the kids (no longer has to be all of them) with whatever expiring 1 year contracts we agree to sign in the summer for salary matching purposes.

Lakers move forward after the trade deadline with a core of LeBron, AD, Butler/Kyrie and probably 2 kids get saved (ie Lonzo and Kuzma? Ingram and #4 go out).

We would have to give up the entire team except LeBron then and 4th pick's salary couldn't even be included in the deal so we'd be dealing Kuzma, Hart, Wagner and Bonga to make up the difference (as opposed to waiting until 4th pick is signed and sparing 4 players in the deal).

I agree though...getting LeBron and AD before free agency starts is a POWERFUL pitch...

So if BI gets a clean bill of health this might go down after all

If you got a chance at AD you take it.

Especially if we lose out on Kawhi.

I don’t trust our front office to slow play it

I’m sure there are some concerns about BI’s health, and I’m also sure some of that is exaggerated as a negotiation tactic to maximize the return in a AD trade.

Definitely agree. Griffin realizes how big our offer was back at the trade deadline and want to get as much of that as he can. I don’t fault him for that but I hope we’re really negotiating this time.

Scam. All a scam. You wait for New Orleans to call. If you don't do that, you deserve everything you have gotten the last month. Stupid decision repeated with more stupid decision is the definition of pure stupid that won't change.

In that scenario, we have very little leverage in trade negotiations at the deadline. By signing a max like Butler or Kyrie this summer, we wouldn’t have the cap to sign AD the following summer.

I hate it but I don't want to pay unproven non all star players the max, I love BI but I won't pay him the max without any proof he can bring us to the promise land

Considering the way the franchise has been, if there is a chance I can pair up Lebron with AD, I do it.

It's all dependant if we score on a big FA.

If Lebron/Kawhi are signed, no team in their right mind would trade the house for AD. AD's talent would be wasted like Bosh/Love playing next to 2 ball-dominant superstars. Just bring back Brook or flip the #4 for a big like DeAndre/Capela/Randle.
