Right now, they're not taking s*** from us because their fans and their ownership don't wanna do a deal with us, period.

Yeah yeah yeah, read into the media and Windhorst all you want. Their fans have no say, and their ownership backtracked on their "over my dead body" statement.

They've given Griffin the greenlight to do his due diligence to get the most for their team. Boston isn't giving them Tatum with Kyrie on his way out, and they hit none of their lottery picks. New York's package is a bunch of no names and they're not even including Mitchell Robinson. So when it comes down to it, even a basic package of Ingram + #4 is still a nicer than whatever anyone else has.

If they're truly not trading in good faith, too bad for them, they end up with less, and someone ends up with a rental.

end of the day, owners trumps all no matter what they say or didn't say, we have prime example here with Jeanie....Gayle Benson only refuted "over my dead body" comment, doesn't mean she'll allow Griffin to deal with LA, look at last yr's rumors, supposedly there were some in Pelicans coaching staff really like the half of the team pkg and guess who overrode that?

i believe the owner herself denied those "over my dead body" comments. so they're not stupid. but they ARE trying to convince him to stay.

no biggie. we can go on with our business and keep a spot warm just in case.

personally I don't want to even engage with NOP unless they're willing to accept Zo + Ingram + 4th pick as the meat and potatoes of the deal.

If they start asking for more picks or for Kuzma/Hart, I say no. I'll throw in Bonga/Wagner type of players, but we need to be able to keep a few guys so we don't decimate our team. I think Zo+BI+4th pick is MORE than fair. If they balk at that? Move on. Don't even talk to these guys. Let them get robbed by Boston or New York

Also, Zo+BI+4th pick (after we sign it) works salary cap-wise for AD if he waives his trade kicker. That's why I'd do exactly this deal and nothing more.

IF NOP doesn't want Ball...then I want to send Zo to CHI for the 7th pick, Kris Dunn OR for the 7th pick and a future pick and re-route that in the NOP package.

Lakers also should look at dealing with the Hawks for the 8th and 10th picks...if there's a chance that Culver, Hunter, Garland can be had at 8th, and Jaxson Hayes is available at 10th, you do that deal easily. I want to see some creativity from our front office...also want us to buy into the 2nd round as well to get some salary fillers (I'd love to get Kevin Porter in the 2nd round).

    Lakers - Anthony Davis
    Memphis - Ball / # 4
    New Orleans - # 2 / Ingram / Kuzma

    Lakers win
Memphis meh depends on how much they value Ball and the prospects at 4
    New Orleans kills it

i wouldn't open that high, and i wouldn't be the one making the first call with that for sure.

let ny underwhelm them and boston lowball them until they call us to get the bidding up. also and again: be bidding on beal with similar assets in a way that lets NO know we're serious about moving on.

absolutely... we aren't offering the farm this time, that ship has long since sailed, and was a ridiculous offer in the first place... at this point, we pursue AD on par with other talent, and keep a seat warm for him as stated above... signing a big FA is the critical path here...

Lakers better not make a call to NOP first. If NOP calls, than it's different.

Well, for me, I'm being more realistic.

That's likely where we end up, but for an offer to be taken seriously, we'd probably have to provide those 3 things. Plus, take into account making the salaries work...if we go and sign XYZ superstar....the ONLY way we can really get AD is by trading both Ingram and Ball at a MINIMUM just to make salaries work. That's why getting the 4th pick was HUGE because it'll allow us to spare low salaried players like Kuzma and Hart, and likely a guy like Wagner as well (3 depth pieces right there), because the 4th pick's salary is going to be $7.1M...add that with Ball (8.7M) and Ingram (7.3M) that gets you to $23.1M, which is just enough to match salaries if AD waives trade kicker (which he will).

I'm so torn as a Lakers fan.

On one hand, of course I want them to kill it this Summer and get us back into contention. And to me, that pretty much entirely hinges on whether they can get an AD trade done next month or not. If they get AD before free agency, they're sitting pretty to add Kawhi or Kyrie despite their FO ineptitude. The positives there are obvious.

On the other hand, maybe this thing needs to burn all the way down to the ground so we can get the appropriate leadership in place. As I've beaten into the ground ad nauseam lately, Jeanie isn't cut out to be the leader of this franchise. Whether she's too nice, doesn't have the leadership skills, isn't sharp enough, or some combination of the 3, her painfully obvious utter failure as the leader of the Lakers casts a dark cloud over the entire franchise. Long-term sustained success won't be restored until she's gone and replaced with someone who's savvy enough to know who to empower to build a successful roster while not being so insecure that their worry about maintaining power is even more important to them than good basketball decisions.

On a side note: You just KNEW she wasn't going to show her face at the Vogel presser. A real leader would have grabbed control of this sinking ship weeks ago and projected strong leadership in the face of adversity. Jeanie Dolan only knows how to retreat when she's needed most. If she captained the Titanic, she'd have pushed women & children out of her way to jump on the first lifeboat. We'll be lucky when she's gone.

I dont think anything happens with your latter comment about burning it to the ground, I think Jeanie is set in her ways and no change is coming with that FO....so gota hope/prey the players will salvage our franchise
