Lonzo opens up a bit on LeBron's show about what happened plus comes right out and says he bought that new house for Pops and his Mom. https://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/la-sp-lonzo-ball-alan-foster-20190505-story.html
He had such a good opportunity to get rid of Lavar from the business side of his career, and get actual capable people... but didn’t. He’s going to end up broke while still playing in the NBA, if that’s possible. He made $8 mil his rookie season, half of that went to taxes. So the remaining $4 mil he spent buying a $3 mil home for mom and dad, and the guy “Big baller brand Allan” stole 1.5 mil from him. There’s also question how much the JBL league probably cost him, child support payments and BBB shoe costs... I’m pretty sure he’s in the negative. It’s too bad he didn’t have a Nike shoe deal or something to help supplement his income
I imagine he didn't buy the house cash, but it's partially financed. Tax write off for the interest and all.
Of course. After the state of CA let him stand back up with what was left after his GF and the IRS got done.
Yeah I’m more okay with the Kidd hire than others, but if our main narrative was how he’ll help Lonzo’s development and then we end up trading Lonzo anyway, I’d be pretty annoyed.
This is the first time I remember reading direct quotes from Lonzo on this. I still don’t see him saying he is OUT of BBB, but this is the right direction. I don’t have HBO, so I didn’t see him say this on The Shop, only the small snippet on Magic leaving
Can Lonzo get an infection there from multiple sessions with the needles if he changes his mind again and wants to put the BBB ink back on top once more in the same spot?
I know I know... Kidd is coming in to mentor Zo, but the consensus #2 pick is Ja Morant, so lottery teams interested in a PG will target Zo if they don't land in the top 2...I'm looking at the Suns, Bulls & Pels. Per the Chicago Sun Times: If AD is the play, we gotta hope to jump into the top 4 while those other 3 PG craved teams fall out of the top 2.
He actually did mention that in the full episode of The Shop. By de facto, Allan took control of the finances after his mom got sick at which point he started screwing them over. If you could find a way to do it, I recommend checking out that full episode of The Shop. Honestly for me, the main takeaway isn’t even Lonzo distancing himself from BBB. What stood out to me was Lebron genuinely trying to push Lonzo’s story and defend him and encourage him to become his own man. It was cool to watch. Really feels like Lebron has some real respect for Lonzo and wants to take him under his wing.
Zo's name sure keeps coming up. It's almost like we broadcasted the Jkidd thing so loudly to tell other teams how much we value Zo and his development...or... Here's Sam Smith bringing up off-season possibilities for Chicago...one of which is a pick swap between 4 & 7, while the other is targeting Zo with the 7th pick. https://www.nba.com/bulls/5-move-bulls-could-make #ItsPosturinSeason
So I guess Sam Smith has never watched Lonzo play and doesn’t re-read things he just wrote? This bit is untrue and then conflicts with itself
I'm open to both possibilities....whether it's Ball for 7th pick and Dunn or swapping 4th for 7th and a 2020 top 5 protected pick (converts to top 3 protected in 2021 and then unprotected in 2022)...I'm open to it all! Honestly I'll be impressed if we extract multiple lottery picks from another team to beef up our package for AD...that will be some smart GM'ing on our part and I'll have SOME faith in our team going forward
