totally unrealistic scenario, Utah had a pg in Rubio and no chance Utah would even remotely consider dealing with Lavar.

And we all know, first hand, what paragons of thought the GMs are. I mean, look at all those franchises that flourish under their stewardship .

To make a generalist sarcastic comment across the group that make up all GMSs really kinda says much abut your level of cynicism. Yeah all GMs are idiots and the self-made million/billionaires that hire them. Easy to cast aspersions from that armchair.

some gms and owners are actually idiots. it's sort of a scientific fact. and having a lot of money isn't a great indicator of intelligence.

some fans are idiots, too. some of them are smart.

the real danger is in making sweeping generalizations or suggesting absolute truth without the ability to demonstrate such.

Cast aspersions? We see it, first hand and via interactions of our FO, as well as countless trades and contracts that have been made in, probably, last 20 years. I'd say it's large enough sample size for me to NOT attach any specific mental capacities to the position of a GM.

    But you do you.

    THANK YOU.

I don't get why this is even a discussion.

Tatum was the 2nd/3rd best player on a C Bags team that went to 7 games with LeBron last year and came within one game of the NBA freaking finals.

Lonzo is going on his second season of missing at least 30 games in the season...and he hasn't improved his game at all from a shooting perspective and like KB24 said...he is NOT aggressive. I'm sorry but I'm fairly positive Zo is never going to be an all star and Tatum will be.

Also, I don't think Tatum is better than Kuzma OR Ingram right now, but he probably has the highest ceiling (this is still debatable though between him and Ingram but Tatum at least can stay on the floor)

It is a discussion because you talk about things in absolutes and tell everyone else they are wrong if they don’t agree with your assumption that you’ve made that is 100% truth (which it’s definitely not 100%)

    Who is the better defender?
Who is the top ranked defensive guard in the league?

    Answer: Lonzo

I can stop here and your argument about Tatum being better in every category and the 100% locked better player would be wrong...

Who is the worst ISO player in the league?

    Answer: Tatum

He creates the lowest PPP in ISO.

So again he’s not 100% locked better player. That’s why it’s a discussion. You harp on Lonzo’s FT shooting and use it against him (which is correct and fine), but don’t care that a larger percentage of Tatum’s game is ISO (larger impact than 2 FTs a game from Lonzo), that he is the worst at. That’s why it’s a discussion.

As much as Tatum had success last year in the playoffs, he’s fallen from that level this season. What’s Tatum known for? Is it his defense? No.
Is it his passing? No is it his ability to score? Yes....

Well he’s sucked at that this year...

    - Worst ISO player
    - < 15 points in 25 games this year
    - shot less than 45% in 28 games
    - Only 3 times dishing 5 assists (his highest number)

So what’s he doing THIS year? He’s struggling. That’s why it’s a discussion. That’s why there is debate. It’s not all bro come on seriously bro why is this a discussion. That’s nonsense.

People aren’t making a case for Lonzo is all high and mighty better than Tatum, actually mostly everyone still takes Tatum, they are just willing to acknowledge the shortcomings he has (That have been on full display this year) and not willing to put him in the bro why is this a discussion category.

For the record I'd still pick Lonzo over Tatum.

For this team, I'd take De'Aaron Fox over either Tatum or Ball.

Don't think lebron and fox would mix well.

I wanted to trade down and draft fox, though.

Sure, different discussion, but absolutely. I'd trade any of our guys for Davis to pair up with Lebron. I think the FO is of the same opinion. Just the Pelicans weren't.

At least they play the same position so the comparison and debate make a lot more sense to me. We had two promising wing players already in BI and Kuz and Lebron of course plays the 3 as well. I don't see where Tatum fits into that mix at all.

I like Fox and I don't think he would have been a bad choice instead. He's a good young PG. But like abeer3 I don't think he fits as well next to Lebron. Really Lonzo is quite a good fit alongside Lebron as he's so low usage. Yes, he'd be even better if he improved his shot. But still what he provides out there is complementary next to Lebron, it doesn't take anything away from him.

I just wish Lonzo hadn't turned his ankle stepping on an opponent's foot. It's a rough one. Hope he recovers well and returns next year with a real fire. He can be a great player.

Kyrie and Lebron seemed to work fine. Ball is a better fit in theory because of his low usage, but his inability to score or stretch the defense at all is obviously not ideal.

I thought they were playing pretty well together before the injuries destroyed our season.
