It's going to most likely be an 8-12 week timeline for a full Grade 3 sprain, not the 4-6 weeks initially stated. Think LFR echoed this too. Our medical staff has been horrible since the lockout, and it seems we get hit by the injury bug consistently more than any other team.
I agree with Vash, you've got to be conservative here. It's a bummer because Zo was doing very well until he went down with the ankle roll, and his play directly impacts our success as a team. We are missing his D and his ability to move the ball badly right now. It's tough, but let's see what they say in a week when he gets reevaluated. Hopefully he can return for at least a part of this regular season and lift us to the playoffs. If we could somehow get ourselves into the 7th slot it would be awesome and I like our chances.
What is the best way to handle Lonzo... Bring him back... He might look like shhhh and lower his trade value and he might just get hurt again given his longevity. Or Leave him out, do not risk another injury but then teams can't see that he is fully healthy which might also effect his trade value. I don't know to be honest but probably prefer option 1.
That's basically Lonzo doing nothing. I could do that sitting in a wheelchair. Just moving your arms up and down isn't doing work on the court lol
This is where doing something and doing nothing have the same meaning. And at this point, I am not sure what to do with Lonzo even if he is ready to return. I honestly don't. Lose-lose situation if you ask me.
I would rest him even if he’s ready to play in the next couple weeks. Give him extra recovery time. At least then he can start training heavily by May.
No point in bringing him back....let ppl see that Lakers without Lonzo actually sucked badly...that should preserve his value. Alternatively I'd want the young guys sans LeBron to play out this season and get as many wins as possible
This kid can't shoot jumpers, fts, or finish around the rim and he's hesitant and passive too often. Yet he's still the second most valuable player on this team. Despite his flaws he brings so much outside of the box score. He will improve in those areas. Image him then. Hold onto this kid folks.
I know our defensive rating tanked as soon as Zo went down, but can anyone pull up the offensive numbers as well? We haven't had a system all year, but I feel like we were still fairly high in our offensive metrics until Zo got hurt. While we all want him to be aggressive, he was the only player that seemed willing to make the simple pass to keep the ball moving on a regular basis. I can't believe some people still want to ship his butt out. I'm not saying he should be untouchable, but the wise move would be to hold onto him unless there's a great deal to be had. They'll probably trade him for a 2nd round pick.
I doubt you are going to get better value than what he can do, but LeBron needs to be willing to give up the ball a little more. Being a 35 yr old high mileage PG makes very little sense
Lonzo wasn't able to improve at all over the offseason because he was injured. Having a full offseason to work on his shooting will pay dividends in the future. And if we trade him, nothing he does over the next month will help increase his trade value, anyways. I'd shut everyone down for that reason.
Agree with this completely, rank for the pick and preserve trade value at the same time, if he’s not traded we also get the benefit of him being able to train.
You crack me up. Walking with weights isn't BAD news for his injury. He wouldn't be putting added weight on it if he were still in bad shape, so if you're looking for healing, it's evidence. But yikes! He has now missed 33% of the games he has been in the league for.
Zo got hurt on Jan 19th. 10/18/18 - 1/20/19: Offensive rating: 20th (107.4) Defensive rating: 6th (106.3) Net rating: 14th (+1.1) True Shooting%: 19th Assist Ratio: 19th PACE: 3rd 1/21/19 - present: Ortg: 22nd (107.6) Drtg: last (116.3) Nrtg: 29th (-8.7) TS%: 20th AR: 6th PACE: 6th Losing Zo definitely hurt...but that's the thing, we've been hurt. Even our current roster isn't all the way right. Bron & Hart aren't playing at a 100% and Rondo has been removed from a twice surgically operated procedure on his shooting/dominant hand. Imho, more than poor roster construction, it's really been our health that's done us in. As for if/when it comes to trading Zo, I believe the most likely is Phx. They want a point and were linked to Rozier (who was a 16th overall pick) and were willing to give up a protected 1st rounder. Boston wanted an unprotected 1st and talks didn't advance past that. https://www.google.com/amp/s/sports...rtedly-offered-protected-first-162532621.html Zo's camp likes Phx and unlike Rozier (who is a restricted free agent this summer), Zo's a 2nd overall pick on a much friendlier team flexible contract. I can totally see Phx giving up a future unprotected 1st for him, if not their own top pick this summer (sans Zion aka 1st overall or Morant with the 2nd). I believe Savs has suggested this type of deal as well.
