Anywho...

I blame the small ball trash tbh.

When you dare a team to shoot (lead the league in opposing fgas) and they miss, you got a spontaneous fastbreak (17% of our points come from fastbreaks...2nd in the league) heading the other way when our capable small ball players grab the defensive boards (2nd best dreb team in the league).

Now does that give Bron a pass? Not at all. His defense is trash...but I do believe he's still a lil gimpy (told y'all groin injuries linger) and he's coasted these last couple years on the defensive end and still got to the Finals...so there's some bad habits there...but I really blame small ball for our defensive problems. It kinda works with Zo due to his activity...but I would hate to see it in a playoff series (if we get that far).

 

Guys, the point of this season was just to sign guys to one year deals to open up cap space for next summer. Obviously we won't have an optimally constructed roster. The goal wasn't to make a deep playoff run but just buy time until the offseason. Whether you like it or not, that's the plan, so don't try to b**** and moan about this roster when most of it won't be here next season.

Regarding the LeBron + shooters debate -- obviously the team needs shooters. Every f***ing team since the beginning of time has needed "shooters." Whether it's guys like Steve Kerr and Toni Kukoc, Brian Shaw and Derek Fisher, etc. every good team has had shooters. But the gameplan of LeBron penetrating and kicking to shooters for open 3s is exactly what Cleveland tried to optimize on, and look how far it got them. That's good enough to win a few rounds in the playoffs but with an aging LeBron it's not going to take down Golden State. That's why the key is to get LeBron off ball and allow him to create from the high post and low post. This is what the Lakers stressed would occur this season, but it's clear LeBron has assumed the PG duties in response to a stagnating offense. That's a COACHING issue - and one that hopefully we address this summer as well.
