I really don't care about chemistry. We need defense NOW. Look at us without Lonzo. It's pathetic. Turnstile. Yeah, I'll take whatever Lonzo gives us whenever he can get back on the court. We miss him badly.
Table leg referring to Ron's story of some other dude using one on someone during his young days playing at the outdoor courts. Prolly wasn't that heavy or shiny.
The season pretty much depends on him, which sucks because it will probably be long gone by the time he is actually back.
Whenever something depends on Lonzo Ball, be prepared for a disappointment. Mr. Glass is usually always recovering from something until he gets there just to get hurt again and repeat the process. Do not trust the process.
Too bad we couldn't have drafted Lonzo and him had better luck with injuries and a different father. Lonzo's going to be an all star but it won't be here.
starting to? we should be very worried. serious question: how many young players have been hurt as much as lonzo his first two years and proved to be healthy long-term? i can think of folks who had a single serious injury that kept them out a year (like randle or griffin) and were then largely healthy (though i'm not sure griffin qualifies there), but guys who just had a litany of seemingly small injuries that kept them out for 10 and 15 games at a time--seems like it follows them. lonzo's built like kevin martin, who was nickel/dime injured for his entire career, for example.
If I could re do everything it would be last draft. We should have done more homework on Tatum and Mitchell but instead we had our marketing glasses on. Remember their were rumors of the jazz offering their first round draft pick for dlo. Imagine we traded dlo and mozgov for their pick and a cap space contract. We draft Tatum, Mitchell, and kuzma. We could probably make the playoffs with that squad last year and definitely attracted more than just LeBron.
The thing with this defensive impact thing ... I mean give me a PJ Tucker / Trevor Ariza and we have the same. I expect more from him than just defense. But I might be in the minority but hopefully after this season a 2nd star is here and all these no-shows (be it on the court or because of being all the time injured) are gone. Being a bit of a laughing stock in the NBA is really annoying ...
We are starting to lean towards revisionist history with the Lonzo pick. Let’s not forget his DEFENSE was his weak point and his shooting was supposed to be his bread and butter. If he had any semblance of consistency in his shot, he would be looking fantastic right now. As for the bumps and bruises he gets, DLO had the same issues but put on some weight and he’s doing well. We drafted the best defensive point guard in the NBA, that’s nothing to be ashamed or feel we got slighted for.
Steph's ankles? I can't remember if he had a freak accident and then was fine. Or was it a serious of significant ankle problems early in his career?
His shot was his bread/butter? I thought it was his vision/passing...everybody in the media questionned if that ugly a** form of his was ever going to work in the pro's.
The best defensive guard when he's healthy; yes, Russell did have the same issue, and if Zo is an All-Star in the West in 2 years for the Lakers or even playing 80-85% of games I'll eat crow. For now, it sucks because we're in win now mode.
no, that's a good example. he had a bunch of small ankle issues that he seems to have largely shaken off...though he does keep getting dinged up in the playoffs. it was both, i think. his three point shooting was touted. people worried about his overall scoring ability because he wasn't a finisher in the halfcourt (still true, though was making progress) and his funky release made midrange pull ups off screen and roll difficult. his on-ball defense was a concern and still isn't great (he actually seems better defending the post than a ballhandler in space), but he's so good off the ball (where most nba defense matters) that it makes up for it. not sure people could have predicted he'd be as good as he is defensively, and i also don't think people would have predicted one airballed three per game, either.
