Yeah, I still can't believe how much we were willing to give up for AD.

FIVE Lottery picks, at friendly deals, plus two first round picks, and taking salary???

People just really hate the Lakers, and the principle of the matter - not letting a superstar player force his way to a particular team. League owners and coaches (Pop) colluding against the Lakers in spite (PG, Kawhi, now AD -- no matter the offer, the spite and hate for LAL was a major factor).

I agree. Dodged the bullet, without burning bridges.

    Very very well done.

In 4 month, the offer is going to be More.

    Wait, I misspoke. I meant - Moe.

That's it. Moe. Not even Bonga.

I am sure AD will remember this. He even went onto Twitter to acknowledge this. I think this is he best case scenario for us.

    1. We didn't have to give up the farm for AD. Thank god for NOH stupidity.
    2. We didn't burn any bridges with AD. Put yourself in AD's shoes. He chose us. We didn't let him down, we did all we could and more to get him. Hell yes, he'll remember. Summer or even 2020, he'll remember Maginka respecting him with a HUGE offer.

They will not be thanking him once they end up with Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown and two guys Boston drafts that the scouts aren't even familiar with.

Hey guys, newbie here. You'll probably flame me for saying this, but I think it's crazy to want to trade Zo even after the failed AD trade. Zo is a future all-star who is only 21 years old. He sees the floor very well, plays unselfishly, and plays very good defense. Zo isn't the one complaining about being traded to the Pelicans and wanting to go to Phoenix instead. It's his stupid dad talking, and that's it. Zo hasn't said a word. The worst thing in the world would be to panic and trade him away right now while his value is at it's all time low. Don't forget, Rondo is a one year rental and then he'll be gone next season. We need Zo to run the show. He's cost controlled and he's a very valuable asset if we decide to trade him down the road. It's asinine to even consider trading him right now if it's not for AD.

Just my two cents. Glad Magic pulled out of the deal.

Zo's issue is that he's fragile, mentally and physically. I'd move him if I could get a good offer.

Anyway, the media is rejoicing hard right now. Would be funny if the deal still happened.

    Like epic funny.

I agree. Do not panic trade Zo to the Suns or Magic unless it's a 3 team deal and we're getting AD back.

In a few years, when Davis signs to the Lakers outright, and the Lakers have all their pieces intact, the Pelicants are gonna look back and say, damn we should have taken that trade.

Oh well, enjoy mediocrity for the next 20 years.

I don’t trade Zo for the sake of it, but his father is pushing it. He said the Lakers have instilled a losing attitude in Lonzo and that Luke is the worst coach for Zo and basically called Luke a loser. As a franchise you really can’t gave one of your best player’s father out there trashing the franchise and the coach. I’m not even a big Luke fan, but he’s actually a great coach for Zo because of the pace we play at. What bothers me is that we don’t hear Zo come out and refute what his father says. Before maybe it was ok, but with these things I’d like to see him say the Lakers absolutely do not give you a losing attitude and that he supports Luke. Lavar went too far this time, and if the right deal came along I’d trade Zo because of it. I like Zo a lot, but I don’t see all-star in his future, especially not in the West with all these star guards.

The thing with this is, are we even going to have a max spot still available in 2020? If we do that means we struck out this July and we punted another offseason for cap space. I don’t like the sound of that, that’s 2 years of LeBron at 34 and 35 wasted. I think the Pelicans know this too and it’s another reason they aren’t looking to deal with us.

I think Zo to Phoenix in a 3-team deal that nets us Beal is a must if we could do it. Lebron makes Zo a little redundant since in crunch time Lebron will be handling the ball. And as abeer pointed out he is fragile. If he hadn't lost almost half his career due to injury up until this point, I'd be hesitant. But a player like Beal would open up the floor and actually allow us to run some semblance of an offense. Lebron/Rondo/Stephenson and even BI can handle the PG duties.
