It's a show by Demps. With Kyrie's camp releasing that he's likely to jump, C Bags have less to offer (to AD) than people think. They need to get rid of a lot of their youth to make this work. Demps won't take Hayward or Horford's huge deals in a trade so Ainge is looking at Tatum, Banks and Brown in a deal. Who's that leave for AD to play with? Hayward, Horford and Rozier (who's a restricted FA making cap matters worse for the C-Bags

Hayward, Horford and AD alone are 90 mil, Roziers a restricted FA this summer and the C Bags have another 7mil or so in contracts they are unlikely to jettison so they are likely to be over the cap before even thinking about Kyrie. Kyrie with a new deal would put them well over making other deals difficult, which I'm sure they'd be fine with but it's interesting that Kyrie's camp came out with this now ;). Also, Hayward's deal will hurt that team for 2 more years after this one. A HUGE negative. If Kyrie's camp continues to hint he's out of there, what's the attraction with their best young players gone? The C-Bags would have little power to improve for quite a while also Rozier's a restricted FA next summer.

A lot hinges on Kyrie's camp right now. That phone call with LBJ was about a lot more things than an apology. There is no way the subject of Kyrie coming to LA was not touched upon, if it hadn't been already and the "call" was just a front for previous discussions/plans. I didn't believe that call was about an apology, the whole thing sounds made up. Add to that likely fact that Kyrie holds the keys to negating a C Bag deal by declaring he's walking and the LBJ/Paul conspiracy is revealed with Kyrie as a co-conspirator. It ought to be enough to scare off Ainge. Then that leaves the Knicks, but Porzingas is a restricted FA next summer making things tighter for them than people think though they can sign another Max FA.

^ Agreed. I think the Kyrie stuff has substance, and the C Bags options are more tight than everyone is making it out to be. I think acquiring AD pivots heavily on Kyrie, and not the young guys. I tend to think Ainge favors the young guys going forward too. He did it with IT, hell I'm sure that interview is out there where he tried to convince Red to trade Bird and McHale in 1989.

Let's also not forget that we're dealing with the junior varsity Saints front office. I think we can make it happen.

also note that the media is starting to play up the "C Bags play better without kyrie" angle, which i don't think they came up with on their own.

Let me ask y'all this... Would you insult the individual and representation you're hoping to do business with later this year with the intent of selling them to sign on long-term to you?

Would you talk s*** about that player's friend & business partner?

Amazing recruiting efforts from one Mr. Ainge...kudos to you, sir. AD's all but yours.

I'm not sure about Ky tho...

But Ky is definitely your type of player, Danny...his trade demand came during the summer.

Danny Ainge was right though. The irony in it all is that Lebron talks mad s*** about someone and does exactly what they do. Sounds like 90% of the population. The ole, I can do what I want, but if you do it, I will criticize you.

Really surprised how much Ainge is screwing this up. Usually he's a few chess moves ahead. Maybe he still is and we just dont see it yet.

How the f*** does a GOAT conversation in a competitive sport such as basketball compare to presiding over your fellow man as a public servant?

    Comparing Bron to Kanye West...sure.

    But to Trump?!?

    No. There is no comparison.

Speaking of Mr. Kardashian, your boy Danny made this wonderful comparison to the AD situation.

Fascinating to read La fans talking about this after not reading anything and then hearing about it through a NY site.

    How so?

By the way, if Kylie and AD are boys, and both want to come to LA next year, this is something to consider...

How many games has Kyrie missed this year?
    Lebron?
    AD?

Better keep some of that depth. Having them all healthy at once is no guarantee. And who that we have will fit well around them and be happy as 4th offensive options?

You have SG and Center left open for starters. Keeping Hart and Zu is likely IMHO if anything goes down.

Winning, playing time, and money matters a lot to these guys. Kyrie, Hayward, and AD get you to the playoffs. They probably get you deep, possibly to the Finals. Can’t see Kyrie or AD walking away from that.

How do NY’ers feel about their chances? I can’t imagine there is much room for hope over there in a trade.

This is obviously working under the assumption that Hayward regains his form. He's been flat out awful this season. For someone who had very limited athleticism to begin with, there is no guarantee he ever becomes an elite player again. But even so, AD and Kyrie gets you to the ECF every year unless there is a dramatic talent shift from West to East (ie Durant comes to the Knicks to play with another star and Zinger)

But players hold grudges. Ainge's recent comment comparing Lebron to Trump will not sit well with ANY players, especially if you're AD and you share an agent with Lebron...an agent that happens to be one of Lebron's best friends. We've seen what happens when an agent gets pissed with a franchise. Mintz (right or wrong) hates the Lakers and managed to drive his players off of and away from them.

which part? that AD wouldn't stay in boston? because i'm not saying that. he would. hell, he might stay in indiana if they won enough with him. it's why i think we have to trade everything for him ASAP.

what i do think fans here are correct about (and the media isn't) is that our offer certainly isn't bad, and i'm not sure it's much different than the best offer boston can make, realistically. remember: their picks a) are all likely late lotto or later and b) must be made prior to any legal AD trade.

even if danny flips those picks for future picks, nobody's going to give him picks that project any better than those.

the thing to watch for at the deadline is weather ainge turns those picks into useful players who can then be traded for AD in July. to me, that's the chess move. but danny loves his picks...

That's the thing I can't get over. The "Boston's package is so much better than the Lakers." narrative. Really? In what way? Ingram and Tatum are only 7 months apart in age, and Ingram's stats are comparable. Better in some places, worse in others, but roughly the same. And I don't think there is any comparison as it pertains to who has more impact on the defensive end of the floor. We also can't dismiss the fact that the Lakers play in the West vs the Leastern Conference. Jaylen Brown has been very, very mediocre this season. So...what's so much better in the C Bags package?

If you want to give the edge to the C Bags having the best prospect in Tatum, I'll concede that, granted it's not even a given. The next 3 best prospects are all Lakers. Ingram, Kuzma and Ball are all more attractive than Brown at this point, and definitely more attractive than Smart or Rozier. Perception is reality, and since the pundits and talking heads on TV don't watch many regular season games, they are going off of the C Bags ECF run last season and who was playing well.

If Boston isn't including Tatum, then their offer is a bunch of mid/late 1st round picks and role players. Somehow the media will continue the narrative that their offer is better than the Lakers.

Rich Paul better have something up his sleeve and use it this weekend because this whole “f*** the Lakers” thing is real and is working.

Kobe needs another talk with Jeanie and tell her to be Daenerys again. She needs to put the league on blast and shut this narrative down. Turn full heel, thats the perception already.

Problem is Ainge is a snake and can tell NO “Oh sure, we’re willing to talk about including Tatum in the summer when we can trade” and then not include him in their real trade negotiations in the summer, just to draw this out.
