It really is stupid that as a player you can not even declare your intentions for your career moving forward.

I can understand that for an agent or a team to make a public statement it could be labeled "tampering". But for a player? How are they "tampering" with their own path?

I love Zo but if he's the cornerstone for the trade you do it and don't think twice about it. Zo, Zubac and Kuzma plus picks and throw in KFC to make the salaries work.

We'd have Lebron and Anthony freaking Davis. Nuff said.

But Zo's "team" aka Lavar is being a bbb**** about it tho.

I'm sure it's too sell more shoes and grow the bbbrand, but that UCLA connect in Nawlins could potentially become the littest perimeter D in the league. Jrue came with it against Harefden last night.

Btw: cue the DLo folks saying that we shoulda sent Zo to BK instead of DLo from the jump haha

And who the f*** is Dell Demps to not even pick up the f****** phone? Really? You can't give us the respect of at least listening to our offer; f*** you! This is one of the reasons you're incompetent a** is losing AD and probably for nothing while Ainge takes advantage of your naive a** in negotiations.

F*** these small market teams; should we cut off our revenue sharing? F***** a**holes.

I think he technically got fined because his agent said something, but its a distinction without a difference IMO.

Sorry. Zo is gone. Every report is that the Pelicans value him above just about every player we have. If the media knows this, and the fans know this, Magic and Pelinka better not get cute and make an offer without him. Start the negotiations with Ball, Kuz, Zu and a first. We need this to happen now. The worst thing we could do is offer them Ingram, Hart and a second rounder thereby insulting the Pelicans. Start with the Zo/Zu/Ball offer to make sure they know we're serious.

sweeten the deal by making it a 3 way trade with Utah and give the jazz whatever they want besides bron or brow to sign away their naming rights so the pelicans can get rid of that stupid name.

That would be the real deal breaker.

We're like 10 million short in salaries. That's a lot of f***ing chicken.

Not sure if you're serious or not, but LJ's trade works salary wise.

Actually AD most likely waives his trade kicker if he's coming our way and is looked at as a 25.4m contract. LA would need a minimum of 20.3m in outgoing salary:

    KCP (15%trade kicker activated) 13.8m
    Zo 7.5m

We already have enough salary to get a deal done with just those 2.

The tricky part is going to be the roster matching and not the salary matching. Both the Pels and LA sit on 15 men rosters at the moment.

This is a very interesting scenario. I've never quite seen something like this where an agent declares his client's intentions and desires to leave. Obviously we've seen a whole bunch of players do it. The league and its owners are definitely trying to thwart what Davis and Paul want as evidenced by the tampering investigation and the fine. This is pretty seriously messed up and all of our conspiracy theories about the league and especially its owners trying to stop us have proven true. We knew this already when Gilbert made such a stink about the Chris Paul trade and then "Basketball Reasons" happened.

Abeer3 and others, after seeing all of this junk do you really still criticize the FO for not being able to pull off a trade for Paul George or Kawhi? As I've said a million times that wasn't ever a REAL possibility given Pritchard's and Pop's hostility towards us. Now we are seeing it once again in action.

I am curious as to how Davis is going to respond now. If he wants to get to the Lakers I believe he should risk angering everyone and just say it out loud tomorrow - that he unequivocally will sign only with them. Otherwise it looks like the league and NO wins by shutting him down as they did.

He said KFC, not KCP. It was a joke that we were going to try to give them 10 million worth of fried chicken.

We should try to focus on this season, make minor trades and make the playoffs for once ...

No AD deal is happening before the trade deadline ends .

    Everybody knows it ...

The fact that NO has interest and sees a 35 mpg star in Zo is good news for us. At least we know they like something on our roster, gives us a good place to start.

Sorry if Zo wants to go to a bigger market than NO (NY/CHI), maybe as a free agent he can get there. Send the Ball family to NO for now though.

The fact that Demps won't answer the phone is pathetic and awful team management. Would they rather let him hold the franchise hostage, walk, and they get nothing? Enjoy losing your team to Seattle if that's the case. Time for Magic to get on a plane for a face to face.

I don't think "pick 3" is a monster offer. If NO does, then great. If we think that, we're out of the running. Three isn't a bad offer, but I'm pretty sure it's going to take more.

Well Doofus Demps has to first answer the phone. If he's doing that under instruction from his boss, ok. If it's because of communications with fellow GMs and coaches, isnt that a form of collusion?

Why do we keep hearing about the Lakers' "plans" to make a monster offer, or how they're "prepared" to make a godfather offer, etc. It's been three days. What's the hold up?

I mean, NOLA isn't in a rush to trade him right now. I'm sure they'd like to hear all offers before ours. They know they can get whatever they want from us, but we have to also stay patient and try to recoup as much as we can. Right now, I don't think anything will beat a package of Kuz, Zo, or Ingram + draft picks.

It's a game of chicken. By the deadline, if we REALLY want Davis AND to keep Boston from being able to bring an offer to the table in the offseason, then we will most likely have to overpay.

Working the phones to sweeten the deal with a 3rd team OR using smoke signals and carrier pigeons to reach their front office since they're gone dark.

my complaint was that it was that the PG situation was bungled from the jump, with the real cherry on top being that we didn't make a monster offer after tampering to get the trade demand. i'll say the same about this situation if we find out any asset was left out of discussions.

zo's wishes ARE an issue for NO, though, as they don't want to be looking at yet another situation like this down the road. really wish zo's people would shut up. this is actually potentially impactful.

demps has always been incompetent. it's clear he's caving to league sentiment--remember, last week (even before the formal trade request), teams were calling NO and telling them not to deal with LA. to me, that must break some league rule, right? i said collusion the other day, but i'm pretty sure that if 8 franchises made a pact to ensure that the orlando magic sucked forever, the commissioner would have something to say about it.

as it stands, how many more years does silver want the lakers to be an afterthought because failing small market franchises are envious? eventually, the league will have the sacramento/indiana finals that exactly nobody outside of those two towns will watch, regardless of who's in the jerseys.
