They're going to "shut Kuz down"... interesting choice of words there.

I’d like to see some real fire from the front office over all of this. I really hope Magic and Jeanie are blowing up Silvers phone over the hypocrisy here.

I don’t trust Kyrie either honestly. I’d much rather have Klay.

I've never been in the league and never will be, but if I could do anything to screw over the C Bags I would. How is Pop's imminent departure relevant to his giving us one last wedgie on the way out? You can't try and prevent your rivals from getting better if you think you might retire soon? No way. That's not the rule.

I mean the Pels fans might not be wrong. Savory is probably right here in that getting a 3rd team involved to get the Pelicans more/better pieces overall in the deal is probably necessary.

I am starting to think getting a 3rd team involved is the only way AD comes before the trade deadline.

I don't know...maybe something with ORL with Vucevic ending up in NOH with Kuz, BI and picks. Zo to ORL with Zu/Hart and whatever comes back to us with AD?

We need to A) up our offer. B) Find a 3rd team. The reports they believe our offer will be the same this summer is them countering and asking for more than whatever we offered. Hopefully we didn't offer the house, cause then there is nothing more to pony up.

The Kyrie and Klay rumors today have to encourage Magic to get this damn thing done. If he gets AD, he won't have to pick up the phone at the start of free agency, the agents will be calling him.

probably. though i am quite annoyed with the media's valuation of ours vs. others' youth. siakam? murray? gfto. siakam's no better than ingram and is years older. lakers wouldn't trade ball for murray, i bet.

anyway, i've been trying to think who's going to play okc/tor in this situation. look for a small-market team with an allstar that can't lead them anywhere. lol, watch it be the spurs with derozan. wizards with beal?

but yes, there's a lot of smoke to an lal/orl/NO trade. orl gets two prospects from la (one big, one smaller), NO gets the other two bigger prospects, vuc, and a couple picks from la.

I'd prefer Klay as well. He's a perfect fit. Can get 60 with only 2 dribbles. Kyrie needs the ball in his hands to make things happen. That said, I wouldn't turn him away. Bron is going to have to concede more and more of the handling of the ball as we improve to extend his career and Kyrie is a capable 4th quarter force.

I don't trust Bucher, but there's definitely something there. First Bron and Kyrie's phone call, then Bron's IG post, the report yesterday about Boston fearing that he will walk, and now Bucher's report today (could be based off the same intel, I suppose). But that's four bread crumbs in a couple weeks. All setting up for an amicable reunion.

Pelicans star Anthony Davis has been fined $50,000 for his representative, Rich Paul, going on the record for trade request, violating CBA.

Haynes just said the Pelicans asked the league to investigate. This is going to be an uphill battle for LA to get a deal done that's for sure.

    Remember this? LA Times article

NBA teams aren't allowed to begin negotiating with free-agent players until 9 p.m. PDT on Friday. So how was it that Chris Paul informed the Clippers on Tuesday, three days before that window was to open, that he wanted to join the Houston Rockets?

The question was posed to several team executives around the league, who all spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the topic. "I don't want to use the 'T' word — tampering — but we all don't play by the rules when it comes to making deals," one Eastern Conference executive said. "Besides, nobody is going to rat anybody out. That's how this league works."

Less than 24 hours after informing Clippers officials of his wishes, Paul was traded to the Rockets on Wednesday in exchange for seven players and a 2018 first-round draft pick. Before the deal happened, he opted back in — earlier he had opted out — to his $24-million contract for next season, which saved the Rockets time and money.

Beyond the typical "how it leaves the Clippers/what it does for the Rockets" discourse, the move prompted an additional response in some of the league's front offices. In summary, something along the lines of: "Hmmm. That was fast." "Every team is looking for an advantage," one executive said. "The deal got done way too fast for somebody not to be talking already. That happened real quick. But hey, that's how it goes in this league."

Several team executives wondered whether the Rockets had a head start in negotiations. According to one NBA executive, James Harden, the Rockets' all-star guard, had been recruiting Paul throughout the season. An executive from another team said Harden had already told a fellow NBA player that Paul's going to Houston was a done deal.

Teams aren't supposed to have conversations with another team's player until the free-agency period starts, but it happens all the time through back channels — players talking to other players, or an agent spreading the word, neither of which is against the rules — according to the front-office officials throughout the league.

During the 2015-16 season, several people in the league said that Golden State Warriors players doggedly recruited Kevin Durant, even while he played for the rival Oklahoma City Thunder. After that season was over, Durant become an unrestricted free agent and joined the Warriors, with whom he won the NBA championship this season.

"Everybody uses agents to do their dirty work or they have a star player talk to another player on another team," one team executive said. "Then it doesn't affect the [general manager]." One player agent said that it made sense for NBA executives to talk about acquiring players before the free-agent market opens. "Otherwise, if they don't, they can wait too late and lose out on a player," the agent said. "It's called job preservation for a front-office executive."

It’s cool though because it’s not the Lakers. The Pacers went out of their way not to deal with us from some reports. Pop said he’d trade Kawhi anywhere but LA from multiple reports. Now we hear the Pelicans don’t want to do any business with us and that Demps got advice from Pops along those lines. There is large, though not league-wide, collusion by the owners and GMs not to do business with us at all, or if they do, to try and get more out of us than they would other teams. The Chris Paul, Kyrie, Butler, and some others stat trades are proof of that. Paul George IMO was proof of that in the moment too, it was only with Oladipo’s emergence out of nowhere that the trade looked better. I can’t even remember what those other teams I listed got for those stars outside of Isiah Thomas to the Cavs.
