He already would be a top 20 player in this league if he could score 14-15 a game on average efficiency . Too bad it's a giant if.

Needs to keep the same mindset on D every game and we'll be fine though

Remember, he was recovering from the surgery and hardly had any time to work over the summer. It's a bummer but we'll have to wait another year for a boost in efficiency. He needs to work on layups more than his jumpshot imo.

    Top 20? Really?!

I’ve never seen so much overrating of a player who is averaging 8/5/5 on .399/.337/.571 splits.

If he was averaging 14-15 pts a game with average efficiency , yes which I said was a very big IF ... and with the same overall energy/commitment every game.

Of course he's far from a top 20 player in reality

LeBron seems genuinely fond of Lonzo. Did you guys see how he joked and smiled and physically welcomed him back to the bench next to himself after Zo picked up his 6th foul right after finally getting back on the floor?

    Job security.

Absolutely, crazy he fouled out so soon but the refs were garbage all game so not surprising. What’s funny to me is all the hate he gets around here for hurting his ankle, as if it’s something he can control, people immediately jumping in with “he can’t stay healthy” and calling him names like breakaball, but he gets no credit for playing and playing well in back to back games on said injured ankle. Whatever I guess.

Also, not a fan of looking at box scores to judge a player, only a fan of a box score when it helps back up what we actually saw on the court, like free throw discrepancies, poor shooting game or poor free throw shooting overall, too many turnovers as a team, stuff like that. Lonzo may not get a lot of assists for a period for other reasons than he isn’t doing enough. For example he’s the type to get a lot of hockey assists because he moves the ball quickly out on the break and makes the pass that leads to the pass for a bucket, or he swings the ball around that leads to an open shot. You also have a lot of poor finishers on this team that cost him assists like Ingram did on at least one wide open layup last night.

I really like lonzo but unless his game changes drastically, he is an elite roll player in the ilk of Draymond Green, kirilinko, battier, joe ingles. He can be a nice contributor as the 4th best player on the team that doesn’t need much usage.

No way he is a top 20 player.

If he continues to improve, I can see him being an all-NBA defensive team selection for many years to come.

Watching the game recording, and he is really a solid defender. Has a knack for interrupting lanes too.

As he grows in confidence and gets better at driving to the Cup and shooting, he could become a really solid complete 2 way player
