    Of course there wasn't.

Remind me, your greatest contribution to any forum besides an unhealthy and failed fetish for Windows phones, is what, exactly?

I thought I'm on your ignored list?

For the record I loved Windows phone and to this day think it failed because of apps. I don't have to apologize for loving a software. I worked in the industry and was passionate about it. But if you think I didn't contribute to this forum it speaks volume. I'll leave it at that.

Can't ignore a moderator. Technically. I totally would... Passing judgement without seeing games, claiming things that fit agenda.

    Prime candidate.

BTW you can ignore me. Technically.

I disclaimed I didn't see the game. It's not like i pretended otherwise so no reason to hold that against me. My gripes with Lonzo have nothing to do with this thread and also isn't based on one game. It's a recurring pattern.

As said if you want to disagree that's OK. But do it by providing something, not just rediculing posts and pushing the like button. Bring up stats, arguments or something.

If you dont have anything to say except laughing posts off, that's not worth wasting time for.

I cannot put people on my ignore list because I have to see what is being said.

Dude, there is absolutely 0 need for me to provide evidence for Randle not being a bad defender.

This has been done very many times. That's why your statement was worthy of ridicule.

Also, with all due respect, I'm gonna post in the way I find enjoyable, and not according to some blueprint I have to run by you first.

I'll provide it for you. As you can see he has improved his offensive rating every year while his D has been constantly bad. The thing about these ratings is that they are not influenced by the team or their teammates.

Most importantly as I said as a big man blocking shots and defending the paint is very valuable and he can't do that because of his limited wingspan.

His net rating is still negative even though his offense has really improved.

    1. So, stats? OFFrtg and DEFRtg to boot? Nope. Not playing. Especially on a team that averaged 30 wins or so. I watched probably 75% of his career games (you know, seeing as he was a Laker) and "bad defender" is not something I'd describe him. You would be hard pressed to find people to side with you on that one.

    2. You didn't say "paint" in your initial statement. You said "defender". Even so, the only knock on Randle, as far as defense goes, has always been his inability to block shots.

Stats are always skewed for players on bad teams. Offensive and defensive. Differently for different players. For example -- a good scorer would have benefited from being on a bad team, especially lacking other offensive options. A lot of examples. Good defender, however, would most likely suffer, stats wise, from lack of defensive schemes and or personnel, so typical of bad teams.

That stat is an awful example... for more evidence see other players, considered, generally, good defenders, on bad teams:

Kobe 2004 - 2005: -2.0 (carrying Chucky, Divac, Mihm and s***... gotta take a toll)
LeBron 2017 - 2018: 1.6 (and he was louded as to becoming a great D player, AFAIK, not that I agree, necessarily)
Beverly 2014 - 2015: 2.9 (not great, for a player whose only claim is D... that entire team sucked on D)
Ariza (multille years) -- having all hover around and below 0, aside from, what do you know, 2008 - 2009 LAL Champs team. Known for it's D, when he was at 6.7. The only year he was even remotely close to that number.
Dray Green (2013 - 2014) -- at 22 mpg with 4.0 (at his peak in 73 - 9 year he was 18.0, BTW), while sophomore on a lousy team
Porzingis (who does what you love -- blocks shots and rebounds, while also scoring a lot) (2016 - 2017): -1.8
Marcus Smart (whose only in the NBA because of the D) (): has never crossed 3.0 in his first 3 seasons and is at 3.7 today.

You see where am I going with this? -1.5 on a bad team is absolutely a lousy way of measuring someone's defense. Had it been -10 like, say, Chucky Atkins in 2009...

OK. How about the other direction?

    See this player:
    upload_2018-11-18_21-20-16.png

    upload_2018-11-18_21-20-37.png

    That's Steve Nash.

    __________________________________________________

It's like there is a connection between a team and personnel. Who would have figured? All these stats are attempts of justification/correlation/explanation. And I actually make money off of statistics and analytics.

You don't think Randle, on SAS this season, would have done better, statistically, than goddamn Bertans (3.4 last season and -4.8 this season)?

Situation, personnel and all the other things matter. Kobe and Bron had to carry pathetic teams.

I prefer to watch games and see: effort and technique, while noticing what other players do. These are much better indicators.

Wait. Randle is a horrendous defender according to the metrics (full disclosure: so is DAR). He has one of the worst DRPM of anyone at his position, three years running. He hasn't ranked above 50th at PFs, and typically about 60 quality in a season.

The Lakers were 4 points better defensively with him off the court last year.

There is a reason he hasn't been able to nab more minutes - he's a bad defender.

Randle is a good defender. Not a great one, but he's developed into a very capable one. As for stats, unfortunately there are no reliable defensive player metrics.

He's a downright bad defender, but it's totally a mentality thing for him.

Why would a player so many like to call a "20/10 guy" not be able to earn eight figures a year? There has to be some explanation for these things - and it can't be that he doesn't care or doesn't work hard. He clearly does on offense, has clearly honed his physique. But the defensive metrics say he sucks and aside from one article praising his defensive versatility, his defense has been roundly criticized by Lakers fans and by Pelicans fans.

So here's my candidate explanation: he's a bad defender.

Randle can't play D worth s***....tada's Jules opinion ain't worth s***... KB24's s*** is hard to ignore ...Travis keeps bringing up that statistical s***...Zen thinks stats ain't worth s***...LT will take your s*** and come up roses...sirron on the DL thinks Bron's s***s smell like roses...KtG33 keeps instigating s***...

What's beef, without all the s***!?!

And for the record, I agree with Travis. The numbers don't lie...Jules is bad on the defensive end...next to no impact...actually, a negative impact.

Also I am so hoping Zen uses this...

...to defend Jules's D while ignoring all the metrics saying otherwise.

[Looks around.."yep, I'm in the right place"]...I did it right this time, aye tada?

You did so well, man.

"You're the best one on one defender in the league." How did he even manage to utter that sentence?
