Other than Sasha Vujacic and maybe Brian Cook, I can’t think of anyone. Just kidding. But we all want to believe that we have not wasted that high pick. Same with Ingram.
Until next year. Next season will be the equivalent of Senior year if he stayed at UCLA. Traditional point guard is a tough position to learn. Steve Nash didn't really become a superstar PG until he went to Phoenix. J-Kidd struggled with his outside shot when he was younger. That's despite the fact that Nash went to college at Santa Clara for 4 years and Kidd went for 2 years at Cal. You could make the argument that true PG's can't exist in today's NBA. But that argument should be thrown at our front office for drafting him. Zo is who he is. He had a team-high 7 assists tonight. Whether his type of role is outdated or not is criticism that Magic and Rob should be hearing. They knew who he was when they drafted him.
Other than SwaGee, Zo was the only net negative on the team and we were leading a route for most of this game. Not to mention JaVale had to deal with Whiteside while Zo didn't have to match up against Wade or Dragic...tragic. #TerriBall
Zo has been disappointing since Rondo’s injury. In which I hoped he would have a coming out party. This is the time for him to flourish and do what he needs to do and yet he looks lost, passive, and weak. I am definitely blaming Zo for his crappy play, but we all fail to see or realize that this roster is taking away from his overall growth. Zo is supposed to be maturing by playing in the games and making decisions and yet he just passes to Lebron and watches him work. He is not being forced to do anything. Empowered to do anything. Zo is not a complementary piece and he is not an offensive player, he is built to be a key starter and key game changer. And he’s anything but that. He’s had flashes this year, but this roster is stunting his growth imo. It would have been better if we brought back the same team as last year adding Paul George and I believe Zo and BI would be doing better. Zo is Rondo and BI is Lebron. The sad thing is, if things stay as they are I’m pretty certain these two will be the scapegoats and the odd two out come trade deadline.
its not james or the teams fault hes a complete non factor offensivley, airballing shots isnt excusable
Still not worried about his shooting, which I believe is being affected by the tweaked ankle from a week back. (Luke is not telling us anything, but I think we're putting a minutes restriction on him, apparent from the latest b2b games) Regardless, 6 reb, 7 ast and 1 tov in 22 minutes is nothing to sneeze at. He'll be fine.
I do not disagree with you John, but two aspects I can't comprehend. 1. Lonzo is traditionally a low usage player. He will never be a high usage player because of many reasons, among them a) he loves to move the ball as quickly as he gets it (instinctively) b) he doesn't really have the ability to break down defenses and go through screens so the ball doesn't stick with him c) he spots up for his shots rather than create shots d) at our fast pace it is difficult to have a high usage as a PG because you have to have outlet passes all the time e) never has he had a high usage rate, even in college. last but not least Kyie Irving was just fine next to LeBron. Lets assume I'm off and LeBron is the reason because it isn't out of possibility, right? 2. Look at this sequence: 3 airballs in a 4 minute span....how do you airball a layup, an open midrange shot and look at that 3 ball. How is that related to LeBron when you are a foot off on 3 consecutive shots? To me this is clearly a lack of concentration/yips. No way in hell should an NBA player airball a layup, a 12 footer and a wide open 3 in like consecutive sequences. These are the best players in the world and these are easy shots relatively to their ability. Incomprehensible. I know Kobe had 3 airballs too ...he was 18, he was a terrible shooter, he was in the playoffs and under pressure and he took tough clutch shots and missed. He didn't airball wide open looks like this in the 2nd quarter of a meaningless regular season game. This is incomprehensible. Just like Fultz...he seems to have a mental issue. Lonzo has played around 60 NBA games...and he might have had around 100 airballs...thats just not right. I don't care who he is playing with.
BTW we won the game and Lonzo had 7 assists. Which while still awful, is an improvement so lets hope this is just a slump and he kind of gets ANYTHING to go.
You’re really giving him the benefit of the doubt... even connecting dots on potential injuries to make excuses for him. The one thing he was meant to have improved, his 3pt shooting, he has shot 5/24 over the last 6 games and in 4 of them he hasn’t hit a single one. He is averaging 5 rebounds and 5 assists this season so far. That’s really not that impressive either and a regression from last year. It’s been a poor start to the season for Lonzo.
really disagree with the notion that ball's regression is lebron/system's fault. if anything, a player with his profile should thrive. ball dominant players are the ones who are hurt by lebron's presence (or really, any ball-dominant player who's better than they are). still can't believe the top two overall picks in the draft both got the yips. what are the odds?
I really don’t understand why folks have zeroed in on Zo and BI as being terrible and need to be moved. They have both become the whipping boys for Lakers fans when Kuz is absolutely horrible on D and yet gets a pass... SMH. I think they both are doing fine. BI’s D is underrated. He’s been taking on harder defensive assignments. People have got to stop basing their opinions on the box score.
how bout basing on watching games? Zo is pretty much invisible on O, Bi gets lost on D ALL the time ball watching, look at how many times he got beat in that Mia game? and Kuz wasn't a #2 pick, expectations aren't that high for him.
Plus you have to remember it's an adjustment period for these guys. Look what happened to Kevin Love and Chris Bosh, they struggled in the beginning to co exist work LeBron.
we didn't pass up on allstar players in trade for kuzma? when you won't trade them for an allstar...they better be an allstar.
