Someone check on Zen...I think dude may have just gone on life support. #HalloweenJustGivesMeAReason #TheCostumeStaysOn #TrollLife
Rotations are terrible. Let the starters play the first quarter. I don't get this switching everyone out at the 4 min mark of the 1st quarter. Starters are the only ones that actually do anything consistently. Then rest Lebron first 6 min of the second. If you have a big enough lead going into the 4th, let Lebron watch until you have to put him in if you are saving him. Everyone else needs to play. Not going to learn unless you f***ing play. All are young guys, those guys should be playing 36 min a game.
There's too many of them, and they play the same positions. And then Luke decides Ball and Rondo need to play at the same time. He's still figuring out rotations.
seemed like a good time to play them, but there was never actually officially garbage time, unless you consider the whole game
I remember complaining that Byron was too rigid in his rotations, so I'll try to be a little more patient about these rotations being so fluid, but you'd think Luke would have a better idea of what his rotations should look like by now. I mean... if we dopes on a message board can figure out what looks good, why is he struggling so much to identify what works and what doesn't? As for this particular game, I don't blame him for how it went down in the 4th quarter. I think a lot of that falls on the players not taking it seriously enough, but I do think Luke has been (to use my guy @tada 's term) underwhelming.
This really needs to stop. Basically, you have Lonzo 1 and Lonzo 2 on the floor at the same time. What's the point? We're not even using Lonzo correctly in the clutch. He's a playmaker, he should be making smart plays, taking pressure off Bron (who is gassed at the end of the game) and setting people up discouraging silly ISO plays in the process. Instead we let Rondo be Lonzo, and Lonzo be... a shooting guard.
Agree with not playing Rondo and Ball together but they are different animals. The game slows down a lot down the stretch and Lonzo isn't super great in the half court, hes great in the fast break though. I'd rather have the ball in Lebron's hand down the stretch and Ball be the secondary creator. (I'm not sure if that makes sense.) Our young players need to learn how to play off ball, Lebron will find you. Heck I'd trade for Korver just so he can teach them how to.
To my Puke contingent: I'll concede to this...his rotations in the 4th need to improve... Cause it's not how you start, but how you finish that matters. If you look at 4th quarter lineups that have played 10 or more minutes together this year, LA's Zo, Lance, Hart, Kuz, Bron has played a total of 16 mins over 3 games together and are considered the 7th worst with a net of -22 compared to the rest of the league. Luke has to find a closing unit cause I'm shocked LA doesn't have a unit that's played more than 10 minutes all year together in the 4th than just that lineup. Next lineup to play significant minutes in the 4th together are 3 units that have played 6 minutes together: Zo, BI, Bron, Kuz, swagGee -39.5...yikes! Zo, Hart, Bron, Kuz, swagGee +25 Lance, KCP, Hart, Svi, JWill +25 Note: the suspensions, minutes restrictions to Zo/swaGee have played a part in it tho.
@karacha 4th quarter is provided above, so out of those the Zo, Hart, Bron, Kuz, swagGee lineup has a large enough sample size of 6mins played together that makes their +25 stand out. If you constitute the entire game, Luke does favor that same lineup cause they've played the most together (suspensions withstanding) at 50 minutes of total game time and they've been a +8. That being said, if you sub out Hart for BI in that lineup, they've played the 2nd most together at 31 total game time minutes and have been a +19.6 I personally would roll with Zo, BI, Bron, Kuz and swagGee too, not only for the lion's share of minutes per game, but also in the 4th quarter to close 1 possession games out. The playoffs tho are another story and we would need a larger sample to see what works best in May (heck, the team could be different too).
I normally don't agree with Darius but he's right about Luke having to create a set rotation sort of speak. You have an idea of which players are playing how many mins and you wiggle around that based on foul troubles, hot hand and rest. Luke still seems like he's trying to figure things out and I get it, it's a huge roster turnover with the guys you kept still being young AND you add someone of Lebron's caliber? Rotations the way Luke has been doing it has been weird, guys can't get into rhythm. And keeping guys in there way too long where with the style we are playing at will tire them out. The deep roster we were boasting during the offseason might be wishful thinking at this point. Maybe time to tighten down our rotations to 7-8 players. But hey, what do I know?
it's early, but there needs to be a pecking order It's completely unclear right now while Luke searches for combos. This lasted all year with Byron, so I hope this is a short term issue.
