Needs to be more aggressive from the start. I am not so mad about those FTs, because that 3pointer was really clutch. But he needs to set the tone, that’s his role. Not Kuzma’s.

They call em free for a reason. Inexcusable and Bron has to #DoBetter. Period.

But still about 130 pts given up in regulation is a recipe for disaster. Guys are getting spent on pushing tempo that the defense becomes areas in the game where they can get their legs back. And tired free throws are also another unnecessary byproduct.

To maintain pace, Bron is trying to rest some on D and he's not even that solid on that end to begin with. And you want him to play small ball 5 there too...in his 16th season with extended you're to the finals 8 years running...Something has to give.

    9-8 year 1 in Miami
19-20 year 1 in Cleveland return
0-3 year 1 in LA so far

Holding to form, but still they free throws bruh. Being tired is a state of mind...#dobetter next time.

I expected him to miss at least one, because FT have been his biggest weakness his whole career.
We all know he failed hard in crunchtime in his first years but has become pretty good at cluth shootmaking (see his tying 3pt tonight), but dont expect him to be good at the line because he just isn't (74% in his career).

Mental midget. You can’t miss both free throws if you’re the Kang. Lebron played much better in the second half but we wouldn’t have needed those free throws or OT if he didn’t miss 5 or 6 layups in the first half. What the hell is going on with the missed chippes at the basket? It can’t be that he’s tired, the season has just started and so had the game. He “rests” way too much on defense. If he is going to blame his teammates for his missed assignments all year, my blood is going to boil.

Before I post these tweets I want everyone to know that Kobe is my guy, but Lebron is a Laker and I'm thankful for that and he's part of the family now which is great. But the irony of all of this is kind of funny

    ^^^^Haha

No doubt Kob spoiled us with that Achilles trot...heck, his last points to his career were to seal the win for us from the charity stripe.

Why am I not surprised that there's two pages of hate for the dude who sent us into Overtime in the first place.
Got to make FTs, but for goodness sake. There's a line between holding someone accountable and looking a gift horse in the mouth. Or I suppose we could go back to the last few years where ^^ that stat line was not only a rarity, but something we'd have celebrated as a coming of a new age.

Three games people. It's been three games.

Simply put we're not in that game in OT without Lebron hitting that shot and find Kuzma wide open for the 3 before that.

Side note, I'm not concerned by this yet, but its worth paying attention to as we move further into the season:

Let me add regular season people. It's the regular season.

I get the hate tho cause defensively he's not all there (gave up the 3 to Gay to make it a 1pt game in OT without much pressure on the run out) and missing free throws to make it at least a 2pt game.

But pushing tempo is going to mean Bron is going to attempt to get his wind back on defense...plus it compiles the matter when he plays small ball 5. Add the minutes that BT implied to above and it's going to all come to a head at some point.

That being said, I'm looking at the calendar and if he's coming up lame in May, then it's a story. Till then, we need a way to figure out how to stay afloat in the playoff race and all while avoiding gassing him out.

That 15th roster add needs to have some sort of impact...

I definitely understand the frustration and he absolutely has to make a damn FT there. All I'm saying is there's a line between "make your FTs LeBron!" and "we got FOUR years of this BS!"

I mean the guy put up damn near a triple double with over 30 points and sent the game into OT. If we're getting that for four more years, we've got a good four years ahead of us. It's the third game of the year, we had two of our most important players suspended, and we still almost beat a pretty good SAS team.

More worrying than anything is our terrible, terrible defense. That certainly is more of a concern than the next four years of LeBron James which look to continue being great. It's both a testament to Laker fans and a hindrance to Laker fans that we see greatness and meet it with a skeptical eye.

I’m very concerned about this already. I know we want to play fast, but LeBron has never played this fast. I know we need LeBron to play big minutes to win games, but combining this pace with those minutes is a recipe for something snapping. I’m not saying we need to protect him with bubble wrap, but we have to be smarter than this. We have 4 years of this guy, we don’t need to use him up in year one, especially when we aren’t winning the title as constructed. Now next year, if Kawhi, or Durant come, or a trade is made for Davis, or Lillard or something, sure, go all out, but not now, not yet.

I think part of that has to be due to inexperience with each other and definitely the suspensions aren't going to help.

Exactly. Lebron will never play consistent defense again, so our coaching staff is gonna have to come up with some team defensive schemes that will hide his deficiencies.

Great post, but I would rather him extend his energy on the defensive side of the ball. Forget his stats and numbers and play efficient on ball/off ball/under/over screens, defense, etc. Without Lebron’s 32, we still would have had 110 points, but his focus on the defensive side would put us in better positions these 3 games. I don’t really like doing the what if game, but 3 games, all close, all lost in the last 2:00 of the game.

We did this last year. We got Lebron hoping he’d be the thing to help us close out those games, but as you have seen, it’s more of the same, we are just scoring more points. Defense is what hurt us last year, defense is what’s going to hurt us this year. We will have to rely on Rondo, Ball, McGee, and Ingram for D, cause Lebron won’t be that guy.

you are right. But would Mamba have 14 assists? Would he shoot 50% from the floor? Would he grab close to 10 rebounds? probably not.

Different players, different styles, differen strengths. LeBron has never in his career been good at free throws. Never been terrible but never good either.

Comparing one aspect of their game makes no sense to me since they are so different. With that said...missing both is pretty unacceptable so a great choke effort there by LeBron.
