Without a doubt the best Ingram read in existence right now.

So many great quotables in this piece. Thx for sharing @therealdeal

Not playing for 1self, but for his 4 other teammates on the court.

Long article. Well worth the time to read. I had no idea the depth of BI’s inner drive. Dare I say, it is a bit Kobe-esque.

It is, but the key difference is Kobe walked with the same air that Brandon sees in LeBron. If Brandon can get past his trepidation about failure, he'll be a superstar. You can't fear making mistakes. It took LeBron 10 years to figure that out. Hopefully Ingram figures it out sooner.

as a psychologist, his obsession with failure is actually a little troubling (as real suggested above). focus on improvement, what's possible and how one could get there. real perfectionism is problematic. coach k gave him good advice regarding moving past mistakes.

in the end, these things are aspects of personality that are hard to move past. there's maturation like we saw in kobe and lebron across their careers, but their differences were still there. kobe was conscience-less, for better and worse. lebron is image conscious, for better and worse. ingram may be brooding for better and worse.

Ingram sure doesn’t look scared out there anymore. In the long run I think his fear will act as more of a fuel than an obstacle.

One of my complaints with him last year is whenever he caught the ball, he hesitated to make a move; whether it was to pass or attack. He looks a lot more focused in the regard so far thos preseason. It also helps getting the pass from Lebrom by cutting instead of getting while stationary out beyond the theee point line...

He's only 21. He'll grow in confidence and ability, and he's going to be dominant when he comes into his own as a man.

Improving defensively - and he played Durant well, too. Lived at the FT-Line and did a fantastic job there; made his 1st 3-point shot. Very nice all around effort from BI.

Ingram can transition from facilitator to off the ball target from James. Gets his points either way,

Was a good bounce back game, mostly after shaking off a rough first half. His only issue is the aggression, he has to keep attacking. At least he’s getting the calls though, and tonight he made the most of them and hit 15-17 of his fts. I’ll take that any night.

Tough shooting night in the first half but he recovered beautifully in the second. The kid just keeps getting better. Great to see.

    Brandon Ingram's Trends
This chart show Ingram's averages per game, calculated per month.
The blue is points, the orange is assists, and the grey is rebounds.
This chart doesn't show what he did each month (that's the next chart). Rather, it shows what his cumulative averages were, so the fact that they're trending upwards means that he's essentially becoming better all the time so far in his career.

    upload_2018-10-11_15-14-53.png

This one shows Ingram's actual monthly stats:
    upload_2018-10-11_15-17-4.png

It goes up and down a bit, but toward the right look how much more dominant he was by season's end last year than he was compared to when he started.

Why am I posting this? BI is my favorite Laker, and he's getting a lot of love for possible Most Improved Player this year. He's trending upward, and if he can improve on par with what he did last year, he'll be knocking on the door to stardom by season's end.

The nice thing about having good vets on the team is it allows young players like BI and Zo and Kuz to build their rhythm if they start slow. The vets already get the rhythm of the game, but if the kids don't get it right away, Bron, Rondo, McGee, Stephenson can help them right their ship and get them going again.

Before, BI and Zo had no one to turn to. If they have a slow start, then it probably affects their entire game or the next. You could see BI struggling last night, but he kept at it with the support of the vets, and he got right back into it again.

Fear of failure is healthy to a degree though right? Its sorta like "i hate losing more than i love winning" type of mentality.

If you are focused on the fear, you can’t focus on how are you going to rip out the other guys throat

I think one is defensive in nature, and the other is offensive

Kobe was just going to come after you, and keep coming after you.
