Why do people keep putting BEN SIMMONS as a POINT GUARD?! Yes, he played the point for Philly, but he's not a point guard. He's a point forward and in the mold of LeBron James basically. Does anybody classify LeBron as a point guard? No. Pretty sick that Lonzo is up there with Westbrook. I like Dejounte Murray as well but I take Zo over him easily
I’m amazed hat Lonzo played at least 1,500 minutes more than anything else. Good to see him in that grouping. If he can just put it all together.
Ben Simmons literally played point guard for that team. It allowed them to start Saric and Covington at the 3/4 spots, Embiid inside, and Redick at the 2. He's just a really big point guard. Considering Magic is one of the greatest players ever with a similar size and skill set, I'm not sure we have any room to complain.
Hey, he's doing what everyone wanted, fixing his shot mechanics. It wasn't so long ago, BI's shot wasn't falling his rookie season either, worked over the Summer to change his release slightly, and he shot significantly better his sophmore year. We got kids who want to work and improve on their game instead of staying put with what they got. Kuzma focusing on his body, BI adding weight and adding to his repitoire, Zo working on his jumper, Zu slimming down. These guys know there's now new gold standard to meet with Lebron here, and could be traded at any time if need be, and have competition at every position to lose minutes. This is what we want out of our farm. A healthy dose of competition, work ethic, and drive, especially at this young age.
hard to tell from the angle just how different it is, but it does look like less of that diagonal motion on the gather and more of a centered release point.
He actually shot exactly like this a few times from that exact location during the season and drew praise for it. I think this is likely him training off the bounce shots in the mid-range. It was something he needed to use more often than he did last season and a weapon he'll need to remain effective in pick and roll situations.
That's what I'm seeing. His right arm is a little more squared in front of his face, rather across his face. Slight change, but he'll definitely have better arc on his shot now, rather than the fling. Ingram made a similar change as well with getting more perpendicular with the shooting hand.
He looks bigger. Sit looks more normal. He needs to shoot a million more and more dribbling. Here’s to hoping he makes a big leap forward with his development.
Again, his shot is not coming from across his face now. It's more perpendicular, which is what you want, even though it's still that flinging motion. It's a small change, but it'll make a big impact. Like I said, Ingram made the same minor change to his hitch, and it improved his shot dramatically. I want him to be more aggressive to the hoop, and finish with strength than finesse. I think his FT shooting was affecting his aggressiveness as well.
