I'm hoping just for a 36% 3-point shooter this year on good volume...that will open up his game and we will win more games.
n it wouldn't hurt having tatum n ingram, this same rationale i got pre draft when i asked why we wouldnt consider tatum....dude looked more like better player than ingram at duke
Remember when POR picked Bowie because they already had Drexler... I was and i still am a Ball guy, hope he meets our expectations
I was simply bringing up that we drafted a player at 27 that put up bigger numbers than Tatum last season, and that we also were already invested in Ingram at the position as well. We also desperately needed a point guard after Russell didn’t really pan out, and there was no Rondo on the roster. It’s easy to look back at Lonzo’s early shooting woes, and later injury issues and look at Tatum’s solid season and great playoffs and say we made a mistake, but it really isn’t sure that we did yet. I still think we took the best player at the position we most needed to fill and time will show that. If you want to look at teams that made a mistake all you need to do is look at all the teams that passed on Mitchell. Or even better, look at Philly, who Boston absolutely fooled into giving them the 3rd and another first rounder for the 1st pick and the right to select the probably overrated and eventually broken Fultz.
well no pt in crying bout it, my deal is that magic had his eyes on Ball no matter what, I just thought that was a poor take even with the rumor of the initial work out not really "wowing" them....my only beef is we didn't work out Tatum too, I could live with mgmt still taking ball if they also saw tatum work outs as well
What would the sentiment towards Lonzo be if there’s been no improvement to his game by say... the all star break? Let’s say he’s still shooting 36% from the field, 30% from 3pt, and 45% from the free throw line. Do we still give him until he’s 25 years old to improve his shot? For some reason I have no concern with knowing Kuzma, Ingram or Hart will improve year after year. I have concerns that Lonzo won’t be improving.
I think when its all said and done both teams will be happy with who they drafted. And we only have to see Tatum twice a year and then only in the Finals.
I’m generally optimistic, but I really do have more questions about Lonzo’s Head and body holding up than I have about any of our other young players
If he is not a keeper by the trade deadline, then I’m strategizing for a point guard in 2019. I’m admitting that the bright light I had for him at draft time is starting to flicker. Maybe Rondo shows he has a couple more years to give, maybe not. But with a team that could be loaded by 2019, say with the addition of another star, then I’m less concerned about needing a star at point guard and would just look for a solid capable vet.
I recall 24 liking another player out of Ohio State whose name escapes me at the moment over John Wall. Could turn out he might be wrong on both counts.
tatum in the playoffs already proved kobe being on the right thought process n amts of gms played also favor tatum even though we wanna give ball built in excuse of not having the body for it last yr when tatum was only 20 as well n playing out of position as a pf
Kyle Kuzma could have and I'm betting would have done as well in the playoffs with a roster like Tatum had. Lonzo was necessary and the right pick. And was the frosting on the cake of that draft when you include Josh Hart. If he comes back and is reasonably healthy next year. And yes Kuz was fortunately there for us that late in the draft. Anyway Kuz is as good going forward or better than Tatum. Bigger. Thicker.
kuzma is not excuse in favor of ball, i can take the "needs" reasoning...its as if teams arent suppose to have multiple good players at the same position...tatum.is being forced to play pf, hes not a pf
