Here is the cost, which is why it hasn’t happened. Worst contract a Laker has ever been given as long as I have been watching.

Just hire some PI that will prove Deng is old as f***. Void the contract, get some money back and be done with it...

Wow what a Diss to Clarkson.

"It cost the team D’Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr. to move Timofey Mozgov and Jordan Clarkson, respectively, but the one contract that remains is that of Luol Deng."

The price is high because of the Lakers asterisk attached to Deng. If it was any other team you would probably see teams bending over backwards to work a trade for a couple draft picks. But its the Lakers and a cleared off Deng means the possibility of a superteam/dynasty in the making. Hopefully it'll be easier to trade him next summer when he's an expiring contract, at least stretching him isn't too bad by then.

It'll most likely be multiple draft considerations for the fact that our pick is probably going to be in the 20's now.

The only players that we should be willing to include are Zu or Bonga. I'd only let go of Moe if we get a serviceable player in return as well.

That's nice of Pelinka to join Deng given I'm sure the awkward conversations and encounters that have happened in the past year or so.

Just goes to show how a player agent is going to do us so good in terms of having it translate into becoming a team GM.

Look at the dubs and what Myers (a former player agent) has done, even having some of those guys taking less than their maxes to keep that team intact.

I'm hoping Rob has the same type of success here.

Also kudos to Deng for being a dope individual off the court...I can't hate on this guy for the type of guy he is and the philanthropy he's done. I'm upset at Mitch for that contract...definitely not Deng. He did what any reasonably sane person would've done.

I still have hopes that Rob can successfully dumpDeng all while make us look good in the process and have Deng not s*** on how we handled him as he exits.

    #PlayerRelations...unless you're a Mintz client.

I'm mad at Deng for letting his conditioning go to hell upon signing. Just low professional integrity, imo.

So is Deng incapable of playing, injured, or just doesn’t want to play?

If he is capable of playing then I would push him to get in game shape and get some usage out of him. He wouldn’t just sit and eat money until his contract is up.

With the possibility of a winning team with LeBron, maybe Deng will show up in shape and be ready to compete.

It's tough to lose weight when you get into your 50's so I wouldn't count on that.

I think he is “capable” of playing, but he is slow and generally not good at all anymore. I think the Lakers didn’t want him taking a second of playing time away from Ingram, Kuzma and Randle and Nance, possibly hindering any of their growth, and rightfully so. Then, by the time some of those guys had injuries, it had been so long since Deng played, they told him don’t even bother, and gave healthy guys like Brewer minutes and then later on added Travis Wear on. I think there’s an irreparable broken bridge between the 2 sides. Deng’s contract is the joke of the entire league, he’s been sat when he’s not injured, he isn’t this regime’s player and they openly laughed when asked about trading him, Magic joking that he sure tried. I think after that it’s hard to say well, we don’t want you, but nobody else does either, so how about you suit up? At this point no way do I ever want to see him take playing time away from even our bench youth like Svi and Wagner. Even through an injury epidemic I’d rely on Wear again.

It’s totally unfair to Deng, and I’m totally ok with that.
