Few have ever faced the challenge that Wesley Johnson faces on the daily.

Well, I don't actually HATE him in the personal sense. I "sports" hate him. There are very few players I actually hate as people. I hated Danny Ainge. Still do. Respected him as a C bag that hurt the Lakers, but dude is just a douche. I hated Starbury. Now I just feel pity for him.

Even as a basketball player I'm not sure I hate him. The only players I hate are the ones I see potential in who are talented and seem smart enough, but for whatever reason avoid their potential. The kind of guy who has what it takes physically and mentally but refuses to do what it takes to win games.

    Michael Beasley comes to mind.

Wes just doesn't have it between the ears. I can't hate a guy for that. I do hate that he THINKS he's better than he is. I hate that he STILL doesn't grasp the concept of being like Michael Cooper... He has all the physical tools to be Michael Cooper 2.0 and he won't do it!

Okay maybe I hate him sometimes.

He's been great for the tank though. He cost us at least 2 wins (or picked us up 2 losses) with turnovers at the very end of games. I wouldn't want him back for free though, same as Lin.

Yeah, I really hope he seeks employment elsewhere next season. We took a flyer on him, it didn't pan out. Time to improve significantly at the position this summer and then find a couple backups with potential, maybe keep Jabari Brown around.

Wesley vows to play like a crazy man.

Unfortunately, I don't think it ever happened.

Unless this tanking lottery issue is corrected (which I am dubious it will be) isn't there always work for a deceptively and ostensibly athletic good character basketball player who can join a roster to stealth tank?

I can see it now. '76ers, Knicks create 10 mllion bidding war to sign Wesley "Sherman" Johnson. A player that actually plays worse the harder he tries.

As Latka would say "Tank you very much."

I would love to have a legit starting level SF next year.

For his price and what he brings to the table, he wouldn't be an awful back up sf.

    ^^ :D:D:D

Precisely, realdeal! No mod fight at all, GCC and I are saying the same thing in different ways. Wes is NOT a legit starting level SF as demonstrated this year. Too bad. He shows glimpses but just like real said, he just doesn't have it between the ears on the court. All the athletic ability in the world won't take you that far if you don't have that component.

Wesley Johnson is the closest heir we have to Gump. Enjoy his time with us Laker fans. It may be a while before we see another come through again.
