Boy, I'm loving every moment of this.

So the Spurs didn't trade him to Boston or Philly or any other WC team that we need to compete with and didn't trade him to the OTHER LA team to spite us...and he's now talking about not even reporting to Toronto?

Yeah, he's coming here and he's sticking to "LA or Bust" unlike p**** P's b**** a**.

I love Kawhi already. Welcome home.

Spurs wanted to keep him from us so bad might actually push Kawhi to us even more.

the best case scenario is that kawhi is 100% serious about sitting out the season AND playing for the lakers

then TOR really has no choice but to deal him to us and it'll be for an awful return

Paul George - shaking his head??? At what?

Could it be Magic and Rob? Is he indicating that the Lakers could have had him from Indy, and now Kawhi from SA, had they simply been willing to part with BI and pieces? Or just at the Raps disloyalty - both to DD and Casey. ??

I too want to see how much better BI is with guys like Bron and Rondo - on the floor, in the gym, and in the film room (and after his offseason workouts and consults with Kobe). For PG - meh, I see the gamble that he was coming here anyway. BI could be better than PG after this season - I think that ceiling is reachable for him in the short term (a top 20 player). But Kawhi is a top 4 player in this league, if healthy. I still say trade BI and Hart (with Deng and a pick) for him to the Raps if he is healthy - despite our apparent leverage. Keep Kuz and Svi no matter what, as they are great compliments to Bron, Rondo, Zo, and Kawhi. Let them all compete this year as a team, make a run, and be better for it next year. No more waiting. Heck, a Steph ankle or Klay/Green knee tweak at the wrong time (not hoping or wishing for that, at all), and a Bron/Kawhi team could win the chip this season. We have Bron (I am gagging...), no more waiting, esp when it comes to a top 4 player that compliments Bron perfectly.

Because playing time will be an issue. Roles will be an issue when BI's contract comes up. And most importantly, every year Lebron is on the team, the clock is ticking.

He isn't losing anything. It's just not gonna be guaranteed earlier. He is about to hit his prime, he will play another 5 years likely after he hits 31. So the money will be recouped there and he will get better outside money from endorsements when he hits the LA Laker market.

Lebron and Kawhi is a devastating duo. Its Jordan and Pippen with bigger human beings. If Kawhi can let the Lakers know hes coming to them through back channels, then the Lakers will have giants and lengthy human beings who can move playing defense. That will topple the Houston's and Warriors. I can't freakin wait....

It's funny. A lot of the rest of the world.. is probably saying Kawhi is a douche.. we wouldn't want him but LA the second if not the biggest market... already loves him. To be an angeleno.. you have to understand us.. he already speaks to so many of us that love this twisted effed up city and franchise to the core. I really hope he comes now. He will be a great Laker!

I am at a loss to see how we can contend for a championship. With the possibility of Leonard coming here significantly reduced, I am not sure I see another path unless the young guys make extreme strides.

And before you say KD or Klay... not happening.

How is Leonard coming here significantly reduced? It's really not the same situation as PG. Kawhi is going to a city in another country that he hated when the all star game was there. Kawhi is not gonna have the reigning MVP telling him over and over again that he wants him there. You think Kyle Lowry is gonna have the same pull as Westbrook? I think Toronto trades him mid season to anyone who has the best deal.

I agree KD and Klay aren't coming but Butler will be available and we will also see if Cousins is healthy enough to deserve a contract.

Since he wasn't traded here I've moved on from the possibility we can acquire him. This is Paul George 2.0. At some point the threats from his camp will die down once the Raptors don't care, waive the physical, and move on with the trade. At that point he'll play, win a lot in the East, and be able to sign a much larger contract to stay. The odds are not in our favor.

If he comes to LA as a free agent, he would be taking a hit of 80 million dollars. That is HUGE

So why did LeBron come here then? With no other superstar already in place?

And that was off the back of an NBA finals appearance...and playing in the East...

Sometimes, players just legitimately want to come to LA and play here. Since we have LeBron and a better young roster than the Clippers...it's a no brainer for Kawhi to come here.
