No offense to anyone on this board, but it's pretty widely known that the Lakers have some of the worst parts of NBA fans in their fan base. That's not to say all of us. There are some wonderful, knowledgable, and passionate Lakers fans. But like Cowboys or Yankee fans their are also a whole lot of super annoying whiny ones too. Comes with the territory of being one of the biggest franchises in the world.

Impossible to really tell. I'd assume the Lakers have intel on whether the two want to play together (as in they'll call LeBron and have him call Kawhi). I just think it's interesting how much the media is willingly manipulated in these situations.

Give names. Most of these will be role players. Those indeed benefit greatly from their system. But these players, in general, benefit from A system. They are not good enough to succeed otherwise. That's why they are role players .

Great players are different. But I don't recall any that left to actually analyze .

    Do you?

I mean I'd love for some crazy trade to happen to get us Kawhi or even some other superstar this year, but it does seem like we are waiting. Aside from "wasting" a year of Lebron, I can't really blame them. The amount of talent that will be in that 2019 class, add one or even two of those guys with our young core and that is a legit title contender.

We'll see it's early July ... I will say this , a successful 2018-2019 season will be making the WCF and showing we're not too far from seriously challenging GS .

A 1st round exit or losing in 5 to GS or Houston in the 2nd round won't be enough

Without adding Kawhi this team would lose to GS, but could beat Houston once CPKnee goes down with his annual booboo.

Another thing we can think about is that Kawhi isn’t always the end game here. We have other options that we could leverage I’m sure.

Not that it would happen, but we could also look into taking someone on like say, Lillard, and just include all of those expiring we just signed and maybe a prospect.

Just saying, we don’t have to wait for the Spurs to budge or Kawhi in free agency, we can go for another star on a team that may look to rebuild.

With news coming out that Butler wants out of MInny I would think that would help us in negotiations with the Spurs. I'd much rather have a healthy Kawhi but if we can bring Butler over without giving up all our prospects I think it's something we'd have to look into.

Therealdeal wrote a great post about Rob the shark that I completely concur with. He's positioned us well to either get Kawhi in trade or in free agency. The Spurs do not have the leverage they think they do. We called their bluff with all of the one year signings and preserving cap space to go after him in the summer.

Or we can trade for another star putting the Spurs in a more difficult situation losing out on our package, and Kawhi just walks to another team.

I think they trade him in the East for someone like Porter and two 2nd round picks

Exactly how I feel. If we're truly about championships here, we need to wait it out and hope. Leonard, Ball and Lebron aren't enough to beat the Warriors. And with those three, we can't add the talent needed due to the cap. In order to beat a dynasty you need luck and to roll the dice a time or two. Yes, we risk not getting Kawhi, but in trading for him, we don't ever beat the Warriors barring catastrophic injuries.

Our young core gave the Warriors fits last year without LeBron & the added Vets.
I'm not suggesting we can beat them as is, but I do think we're a bad matchup for them & aren't that far off from contending.

Right now, any team with LeBron is a contender. In a series, I can't see us beating the Warriors because our kids haven't ever been there before.

However, maybe Steph twists an ankle, maybe Durant tweaks a knee... We're there now. We're in that stratosphere and we're close.

The thing is, if we're that close, can we get closer? Can we give them a run in a series if we get Kawhi? I think so.

I can see Kawhi being a Clipper.
