Randle might end up having to settle for the QO at this point which would be fascinating. Eric Pincus last night said something that resonates with me: "It's a relationship business". Mintz and the Lakers FO must have a really bad relationship at the moment. D'Angelo Russell was his guy. George was his guy. That leaves Julius in a really awkward position.

Woj is saying AD wants Cousins back, lol so that pretty much means we aren't getting him.

I can already see Cousins saying, "there's unfinished business".

seems like the only bump in the road for cousins to LA is davis

and like others have mentioned, NO will bend over backwards to satisfy their franchise player

Changed my mind. 1+1 with a team option is the only way this makes sense to me. Anything more just isn’t worth the gamble. I’m trying to get excited about this, but that’s out of desperation because this is a realistic consolation prize.

My gut instinct is that Cousins would essentially be a big man version of Isaiah Thomas. Severely limited by his injury, still a volume scorer, but a liability in all other aspects of the game and detrimental to our team’s flow with the way he demands the ball and affects pace.

There’s a small chance I’m wrong. Maybe he’s so skilled that he works around his injuries and remains such a boost to the offense that he becomes a major asset.

I just wouldn’t want to eliminate our 2019 flexibility on that gamble.

I like that he can shoot the 3, draw his defender away from the basket, and is a big body.

The rest he has to prove he’s actually capable of returning to form. Highly risky situation with an explosive personality.

In spite of not liking LLLLLL, I think Cousins is a safer bet to not be a bad influence in the locker room if there’s a bigger voice in the room. I don’t sign him without LLLLLL. we’ve seen what he’s like as BMOC in Sactown. It’s not attractive. Different guy in NO with Davis.

No point in worrying about 2019. The only guy in that class that would matter is Klay Thiompson, and I seriously doubt he leaves GSW, especially if they win another title. Kawhi Leonard is likely to get shipped to Philly and that team would go to the finals even without Lebron with Embiid, Simmons and Kawhi.

Lakers are at the point now where they need to hope Brandon Ingram becomes a star, same with Kuzma and Lonzo turns into Jason Kidd. If not, the Lakers will be a 6 or 7 seed at best in a few years and they will never be a title contender.

We need cousins to be patient. Only we and the pels have the cash he wants, and he's interested in playing here. Hope he's not annoyed by the capela flirtation, which is strategic and unlikely to come to fruition.

Imagine if we ran the same low post split the Warriors ran, but instead of ONLY looking for the 3 out of the action like the Warriors do, we have Cousins in the post, and run the split action with 2 shooters. That would be hell for the defense, since Cousins could score every time. Green only looks to pass from the post, and often gets pushed out too far because he's undersized. Won't happen with Cousins.

But yes been suggesting the 1+1 this whole time. My concern is if someone (stupidly) offers Cousins a longer term deal, which he would take due to the security he will want after that injury.

If Boogie comes, so does Rondo...and I'm salivating at the thought of Rondo, BI and Kawhi hounding people on the perimeter. It will be the best we've seen since the phenom that is Roberson.

I badly do not want Capela. To get him, we would have to offer him a contract the Rockets would be unlikely to match...which would be a 4 year max offer.

I actually would rather take my chances on a recovering Boogie on a short term deal instead

Nope unless he takes a big paycut.

I assume he will only get a one year deal where ever he goes. We can revisit this next off-season. I'm not too sad because chances are he won't be the same anymore.
