Yeah, man. Agree. If he isn't healthy, do not take the risk.

However, if everything checks out, you have to get him if he us available.

But the quad injury is concerning...

Do you guys think that Kawhi may have over exaggerated his injury so that he can have an excuse to demand a trade?

You can't equate what Magic and Rob did here over the last two seasons to Mitch and Jim trying to talk to Aldridge and Durrant.

Magic already pulled us out of a huge financial s*** hole left from Mitch and Jim by making good trades and loaded the team with solid youth, making the team attractive to free agents. He's already done way more than Mitch and Jim did in the last 8 or so years.

I’ve said from minute one I though he was the least likely guy we would get because we had to trade for him. I think we have a much better chance at George or LeBron and my statement was just that I expect us to deliver at least one guy.

If folks want to jump all over that by focusing on Leonard then that’s fine but the sentiment stands. We’ve got a legit shot at bringing in at least one major guy to improve our team and I expect them to get it done. George, James, a good deal for Leonard. Whatever.

Well, I was here during tanking, here when Game Time was empty in April watching meaningless games, here during the draft picks, etc.

I am tired, and I want to win. If that means making a reasonable deal to acquire Kawhi - and you make sure he is healthy, then go for it.

    No argument here.

if we come out empty handed I will.

I like the job they’ve done and I think we are going to be successful. But yes. This is ultimately why Magic is here and where he is supposed to shine as opposed to Buss and Mitch. I expect them to close here.

First of all if the rumors are to be believed, LA is trying to gain 1st round picks to flip to SA for Kawhi in order to spare the kids from being traded. Its not going to be in addition to. I can see S&T Jules (and that is quickly becoming his best option cause cap is drying up everywhere) plus the picks we trade for and our own draft picks rights of Moe, Svi, Bonga to go get Kawhi.

It then becomes a question of Bron/George/kids vs Bron/Kawhi/kids...I personally prefer the latter, but that's up to the FO and how they envision such a group in Luke's system.

Also the rumors of us sacrificing our cap in order to go get 1st rounders is maybe just a threat towards the Spurs in that we'll go get an expiring Faried/Denver 1st this next season and then we'll open up a max slot next summer to bring Kawhi into once Faried comes off the books....oh and we'll get some draft compensation out of it.

No, if we get Kawhi as opposed to PG it opens up the ability to sign Jules. So, LBJ + PG with all our youth but minus Jules or LBJ + Kawhi + Jules + maybe one of our main youths, maybe Ball and Hart at best. This may also may not be the case now as word is the Spurs are trying to push a bad contract on us and we are possibly taking on a bad contract for a Denver pick.

Exactly. Enough of the losing man. We’ve all suffered enough. Time to get back to at least being a playoff team.

We’ve got cap flexibility, an up and coming coach, good young talent, and finally what looks to be solid leadership. Time to land some big fish and really get back to contending.

I honestly think Magic and Rob are shrewd enough negotiators to not get fleeced in a Kawhi deal.

Nah, fact is we aren't 100% in control of this. Execs can't do magic and make people sign despite the nickname.

All they can do is put us in the right place to get s*** done. We've just been way to spoiled with championships and now we expect everything to go our way, but we would be sooooooo lucky for it to work out that way. Ask like 90% of fans in the league how easy it is to even get into the place we're in right now with young talent and plenty of cap room to sign max players.

Then we’re just not going to agree on this one. This is where Magic is supposed to succeed where the previous guys failed. Expectations are high. That’s part of the job especially with the Lakers. I think they get this done and if we come out empty handed I’m not going to lie. I won’t be pleased and I’ll probably be pretty vocal about it.

I just expect it to happen because Magic and Rob did such a fantastic job with putting us in this position.

And I give them credit for that. Honestly I do. I think they’ve done a good job thus far and think they will deliver again and really put themselves as favorites for executives of the year.

At 1st I was frustrated with all the trades to get to this moment and at the beginning of the season I did say I would hold them accountable if they didn't get any max FA. But considering where we were with Mitch/Jim to now, I'd say its night and day or even heaven/hell lol. I'll give magic till 2019 if he completely wiffs this summer. Mitch/Jim could never get us this far....the best they did was that epic fail of a meeting with Aldridge.

I'm still pissed off about Mitch giving Deng and Mozgov so many years on their contracts with no team options at all.... Talk about idiotic move. Still Burns

"I'm going to say it again: I love Jim Buss. He should just be the owner, like his dad was just the owner," Johnson said. "Let's go back with facts, so I can back this up with facts: 27 wins a couple years ago, 21 wins last year. Three summers now, we haven't signed anybody. I am backing this up with facts. We haven't signed any superstar. We've had cap space. We had cap space last summer. We're going to have more this summer." - Magic Johnson December 2015

They've done a great job so far. Seriously they've really changed the team and outlook around and they will always get props for that from me. But when we are on the subject of superstars and cap space, and only talking about that, Magic can't make comments like the above and then say ohh we will kick the can if we have to. That's exactly what Mitch and Jim did. He said he could do better, well now is the time. Like I told Real, I'm confident that it can and will happen.
