I think a deal is already done...and Spurs are just waiting for someone else to come in at the last minute and beat the Lakers deal.

Lakers have likely put a deadline of today or tomorrow morning to accept the deal...and Spurs are working the phones furiously

This would explain the "Godfather" offer...Spurs likely are trying to get Boston to do something about it before they take the Lakers "amazing" offer (so their offer better be more amazing than ours is)

I think every deal starts and ends with Ingram. There's just no way around it...

Ingram upside is basically Kawhi Leonard...so it makes sense. Now if we can give them Ingram, Deng and 2 firsts? That'd be a great deal for both sides I believe.

I didn’t see these posted already, but they seemed relevant even if a little old by now

The leak of our offer could also be a way for San Antonio to float that around the league and see if anyone wants to top it.

Aka: Boston include Jaylen Brown AND Sacramento 1st.

Kawhi would have to commit to Boston though. And that's the issue, I do not think Kawhi is going to commit to anything.

Bleacher reports stated that our offer is BI and future 1st.

I believe Spurs want us to include Kuz but we are not willing to.

Spurs have no leverage from around the league.

    Re "Godfather offer"

OT, but I have to vent a little. I'm a pretty big movie fan, and I'm ashamed to admit that I'm 38 years old and I JUST last week got around to watching The Godfather.
He WASN'T making him such a sweet offer that he would obviously accept it. "Can't refuse" means he had a gun literally to the guys head, FORCING him to accept the offer. My entire life, I and almost everyone else has used this quote incorrectly.

If the reported 'Godfather Offer' was movie-accurate, It would be something like: "Tell Beuford either his name or his brains will be on that contract."

SAS just said that Kawhi definitely wants out of SA and that he wants to go back home to LA, preferably the Lakers, but he would be ok with the Clippers too.

Say the Spurs don't get a better offer on Kawhi and we move Ingram for Kawhi.

We're now in a very awkward spot financially. We'd have:

    Kawhi- 20.1
    Deng- 18
    Julius Cap- 12.5
    Lonzo- 7.5
    Kuzma- 1.7
    Hart- 1.7
    Wagner- 1.5
    Bryant- 1.4
    Svi- 0.86
    Cap holds- 2.56
    Total- 66.34 million

That doesn't even leave enough for LeBron by himself, let alone LeBron and George. Trading away Deng for nothing and waiving Julius's cap hold gets us to a total of- 39.92 million. That leaves us with 61 million to spend.

We'd still be about 5 million short of two max deals. We could waive our rights to Bryant and maybe Hart and Wagner go out too, but that only clears up about 3 million.

If the Lakers are aiming for their big three, someone needs to take a pay cut.

Stretch Deng, get a verbal commitment to trade terms from the spurs. sign PG and Lebron first, then go over the cap trading for Kawhi?

I’m not sure they are anymore. All this PG back to OKC talk has my faith that he will be a Laker more than a little shaken. In the media at least, the Lakers appear to be going for Kawhi/LeBron, the 2 guys who have given the Warriors fits.

I am pretty sure if it came down to Lebron and Paul George knowing they are getting Kawhi, they would take 28 mil and 33 mil to make it work. Leonard, George and Lebron end the Warriors run and beat the C Bags in the Finals if they stay healthy.

I believe that's possible, but I think the salaries would have to match... Could make a trade tougher. Maybe you don't waive Deng, you include him in the deal and you take back a contract to make it fit? I don't know.

All I'm saying is accommodating all three will be a bit of a challenge.

Isn’t PG already taking less money if he comes to LA? He would have to take another pay cut to fit Kawhi.

Question, If PG does stay in OKC, does it work to:

    -Trade BI+pick for Kawhi
    -Stretch Deng
    -Sign Lebron to his max
    -Resign Randle for $18-20?

If so, I don't hate that!

    Lonzo
    Kawhi
    Kuz
    Lebron
    Randle
