Totally. This all reads as desperation from SA to push things forward. They're using Woj to do it because they know his reputation. Listening to Ramona clinched for me that this is SA's attempt to wring any value out of the Lakers in this window.

She said "If the Lakers blink" and "if the Lakers cave" as in, if we hesitate and lose confidence in our 2 max plan. With George opting out officially, I bet Magic bets on himself here and leans back into the plan they had with George and LeBron. It's possible they still make a deal for Kawhi, but that was a blow to this short window that SA was betting on. George is an official FA and Magic just needs a chance to sit with him. It'll be extraordinarily difficult to say no to Magic for a kid from the LA area.

We hold all the cards. No way should we make a panic move with Kawhi. I’m OK with going full steam ahead with the original plans of signing PG and Lebron. We get those two and we are instant contenders in the West.

    PG

    Lebron
    Lopez

kawhi is option #3. obviously LBJ/PG/kawhi would be amazing but if LBJ and PG sign that's enough. no need to go out and trade the kids for kawhi

What if they told the Lakers they won't sign unless we get Kawhi? What do we do now? That would mean another strike out in the FA market for the Lakers. This is why it's so important for us to get Kawhi NOW. I won't give up the farm for him, but we HAVE to make this works.

It makes insanely more sense if they want Kawhi, to join first, kill all leverage for the Spurs, and then get Kawhi at a discount so they can keep as many assets around them as possible.

Spurs want this done before free agency when they still hold some leverage. Once we are able to openly talk to Lebron and George, things go differently.

Sign George at 12:01. Or verbally agree, anyway. Then, let the cards fall.

I would prefer to get George, just turned 28.

And if Kawhi can give the Lakers the thumbs up for next year, hes 27 this Friday, Lakers can get Kawhi and George without giving up their youth.

It should be easier to unload Deng next year with one year left and Randle can be brought back.

I'd rather keep everyone and wait one more year for Kawhi with George.

I'm just busting your chops man. I've just never actually seen you even indicate wanting him back. Either way, we're on the same side and this should all be over in the next week or 2.

This part of the job seems easy. "Things things things."

    Everyone freaks out about things.

    Profit.

Last night the call with the Lakers were "productive" so maybe it's time to take on Deng

Trade him to Boston then. Please. I'd love to see them lose a few assets and have Kawhi find his way over in a year.

This honestly feels like another SA ploy to get a bidding war started between LA and Boston. A Boston writer already reported that Boston's best offer was Sacramento's pick next year, no Brown and no Tatum. SA is trying to tempt the Lakers into moving or losing Kawhi to their biggest rival.

I'm calling their bluff. Do it. Send him there SA.
