Not sure why Denver is doing this prematurely....they won't be able to retain or sign any other FA's this summer as a result...Barton likely a goner if this goes down and he was key for Denver last year...but then again, they got a few guys that can fill the void (Not to mention MPJ if he's healthy). Regarding Jules...i love the guy but man $25M would be insane to pay him. I think max I go is $20M...and even that is a stretch...I'd love to get him at around $16-18M.
If someone wants to pay him 20-25 million, I think he becomes replaceable at that price. With who is on the market, we can get two for the price of one easily.
Easily? With a coupon or something? I mean I would hope so, but what 2 are on the market at 10-12.5 mil each this summer equal to Jules?
Sir, why you gotta ask for details? Just take what I say as gospel truth and nod your head that you agree. I meant to say "allegedly"
Is it a reasonable assumption that Julius and his agent are on the same page with the Lakers and don't have to wait until the 29th Friday to know if Jules is going to be given a qualified offer to retain the restricted status? How about the communication as it would extend to the Lakers not wanting to have that cap hit of 12M on the books while they are setting up LBJ and PG for their signings, and have a verbal agreement that if he gets an attractive offer as an unrestricted FA to at least not sign it immediately and still give the Lakers a chance to match it? Facilitating the needs of both sides. Lakers have that history of doing right by their key players and earning benefit of the doubt?
Stephen A says the Nets are interested in Randle. I'm assuming D'Angelo is pushing hard for his buddy.
Do they have the cap room? I know they opened up two max slots for next year with the Dwight trade, do buyouts count against the cap?
They'll have somewhere between 13-20 million or so to spend. So right in the wheelhouse for Julius if they want to throw that kind of money at him. Julius doesn't seem like a NY guy to me. Just my opinion.
Nets already working on a buyout and snt is depended on Randle saying yes as well....why would he agree to go to the nets when there will be other suitors?
well, it wouldn't be up to Randle if the Nets retain his restricted free agent rights in the trade. so the nets could match any offer made. unless i'm missing something.
you can't trade randle till you pickup his opt and then you still have to get randle to agree to a SnT as well.
khmrp is right. We could trade Randle to Brooklyn, but only if he agrees to it. It's possible to get it done. The problem would be if we did that, Dwight has a significant salary. Buying him out would be pretty costly for us.
Gotcha. Maybe Dwight goes to San Antonio with BI, who would be a huge expiring for them in 2019? Something like: LA gets Kawhi. BKN gets Randle, Deng SA gets BI, Dwight, LA 1st. Would you be okay with BI, Randle, Deng and a 1st for Kawhi?
Without question. I'd love that move. I think Brooklyn probably says no though unless they get another pick or something and I'd be okay with that too. I also think San Antonio would simply prefer to get both BI and Randle. They may even accept Deng to get both of them if we throw them two 1sts and a 2nd or so.
