Have you seen Pau's production this last season? It's definitely part of the system they run, but Pau ain't some stiff even if he's aged considerably since we last saw him.

Plus there's only 6.7M guaranteed in the final year of his contract (19/20 season). So let's say we are relegated to stretching Deng vs Pau, we're looking at 7.4 vs 4.5 over 5 years as dead cap.

I like Pau... but more as a bench big at this point. He fits in any offense just given his intelligence, but at his age and cost level, I'm not very interested in Pau right now.

We pretty much have to trade for Kawhi. We can't sign lebron and PG this year and then afford to pay Kawhi next year. Doesn't that take away our leverage of teams afraid to offer assets due to fear of him walking?

Leverage is all on Kawhi. If Kawhi tells the Spurs he wants the Lakers, and tells any and every team Pop wants to trade him to, hes going to LA and their is no chance I'm signing with you next year, Pop and the other teams really have no choice.

Right, I get that. But how much can we offer him next summer if a team calls his bluff and trades for him? I'm genuinely asking...how much can we give him if we sign lebron and pg this year, let Randle walk, dump deng, and then fill out the roster with 1 year contracts?

It will be hard to field 3 stars with their salaries. They will need someone to ease of their salaries or it will be Miami Heat 2.0. One way or the other, Lakers will need to trade for him.

We can't resign him at that point (realistically). He'd get what PG is getting, around 30 million. That means LBJ, PG and Kawhi would account for close to 100 million in cap space. Even if we traded Ingram and Lonzo for nothing and got rid of every other player, the cap holds would probably be too large.

I just don’t want Kawhi in Boston. If they retain Kyrie and Tatum, that’s a lock finals team, and a legit championship contender. Do not want. If not with us, I hope anywhere but Boston.

    I'd take Pau over Deng.

Well, yes, but that’s not really a move we have to make IMO. I’m not taking Kawhi with his injury risk AND Pau. If Kawhi turns out to be damaged goods, then you’ve only taken him on for a year and it was a good risk, but if you take Pau you’re adding an extra contract year (onto what Deng has left) to a guy that’s close to done. And yes, I did see him play in SA last season, he can still score some, he can still grab some boards, but he’s a turnstile and a layup line on defense. I’d rather have Lopez.

I feel like everyone is over thinking at this point. Just make sure Kawhi is good and let's get this thing done. These three together is just an incredible opportunity. Yes, he'll have to pass his physical. I think he's going to be fine. If not we should be able to tell.

The possibility of the three of these guys on the same team, our team is just remarkable. We could kick Golden State's butts.

I mean, if Lebron leaves the East, they’re pretty much a lock Finals teams as constructed. But add Kawhi, that would be dangerous.

Resign randle n hope wherever Leonard is traded to would rather get randle/filler in exchange over losing him for nothing

If I were them, I wouldn't exactly shake things up to add a questionably healthy Kawhi to the mix. They've got a rare mix of youth and effective veterans and like you said, they're poised to be good for a really long time in a Conference maybe losing LeBron. Why rock the boat?

    Kyrie/Rozier
    Hayward/Brown
    Tatum/Brown/Ojeleye
    Horford/Morris
    Baynes

That's one hell of a team right there. In the East? They've got no competition (I don't believe in the Sixers).

    How dare you sir!

Out of all centers in the league that played 20 or more mins per game, Pau ranked 4th in defensive ranking behind only Gobert, Embiid and Horford.

He absolutely obliterated both Jules and BLo, who reamed 26th and 30th respectively.

You rock the boat because that youth will start to need to get paid over time and adding Kawhi gives them a chance to win now. Kyrie , Tatum, and Hayward don’t beat GS if Kyrie, Love and LeBron couldn’t. Kyrie, Leonard, Hayward, Tatum, that makes me sweat and start to worry they could win it all. If it costs them Brown and or Rozier, some other young piece and picks, that’s nothing.
