This I find very interesting. I don't remember him having any specific issue with his knee? Not one that would require this as a treatment. Did they give him a PRP injection like a booster shot? Because that's what it sounds like. I don't know enough about that science to know if that's what they tried to do. Otherwise, this is a quiet way of putting out that he had a knee injury and the timing isn't great for that. Hopefully this was a proactive decision and not reactive to some injury and hopefully he was off it for a month on the advice of the training staff. Ball is clearly a very weak individual so staying off his knees after a strenuous season (for him) is important. But if this is all true, he's much weaker than we thought he was. He really needs to put on muscle and take that part of training a lot more seriously. To his credit, by all accounts that's what he's been doing. He's certainly been a consistent presence at the training facility.
Yeah, I didn't of him having any specific issues with his knees. He still has the full summer to work on his game and his body.
Real, remember he had a MCL sprain late in the season and was effectively shut down, as was BI, to close the season off. Prp treatment is much more effective treating osteoarthritis (ligaments like the MCL) as opposed to arthritis (tendons/muscle pain). The knee is one of the least perfused areas in the body. Prp will effectively target and provide that area with stem cells to minimize chronic inflammation related pain. I'm concerned, cause that pain lingers and could impede his training this summer... But the pain should dissipate when the season starts. And while we're on it, I'm seeing some fans (@jbiggs ) think that Bron's soft cast was a means to deflect criticism and gain sympathy for a Finals sweep. Other than exposing himself from suffering from 'roid rage and making him look like a poor leader (how can you ask for cerebral players if you acted like a dummy yourself?), the cast is absolutely necessary not only to stabilize the frequently articulating joint of the wrist (in a sport like bball), but to also provide compression in minimizing inflammation (swelling). Again, he didn't wear it for strategy, cause why put a target on an injury around a guy like Dae-dae. Why did he wear a cast? Okay, then why not just line up chairs in the corridor, so after games players can just queue up for their postgame pressers before they get to their icebaths? Hate on the guy all you want, but it's ridiculous to attack him on the merit of hating on his media apologists. I know Brons an attention monger, but in revealing his self-inflicted injury, he actually made me question his bball IQ. But nope, he revealed it so that he can gain sympathy. Come'n man? #HateBetter
I spoke to my wife about it (physical therapist) and she thinks it's likely prophylactic but that there's a good chance he has/had some knee damage they want to heal better. It's probably his MCL sprain, but we know too much not to be a little worried about something like this. He really needs to add strength. A lot of it.
Yeah he can spend a lot of time in Chino Hills and let a real trainer work with him instead of our bull**** staff. Chin-ups and dumbbells .... old school.
He must've gotten the shot at season's end, cause the report says he's been resting a month and is now returning back to training feeling a 100. Prp recovery time for mere mortals is 3-6 months.... But for a transcendant individial, most likely less. I just hope he can get a full summer's worth of training in... And not on daddy's driveway.
im a self professed hater i know, but i am far from the only one questioning his cast wearing...i actually think you are in the minority in thinking its nothing. he could have handled it in so many different ways but chose the one that gave haters like me some legit fuel. i had to give him (and still do) some begrudging respect for the effort he gave in the finals, but now i feel like some of that is tainted
It's not a sprint, it's a marathon race my friend. I applaud the Lakers for trying to take care of lonzo long term. As someone mentioned it's a slow healing area. To me it sounds like a MAX AFFECT healing process of shot to attack prone area AND to give it the best chance to heal. They're gonna bring him along slowly but surely, with the added strength megimen that we all want. Season just ended... Lonzo is gonna be just fine.
I understand the science just fine. The science isn't what bothers me. What bothers me is the need for such a treatment. Weak knees are a recipe for a shorter career. I'm fairly sure this was a precautionary measure, but just needing it all is not a good thing.
You said it yourself.. I don't think it was a need, but if that's what doctors think is the best for long term knee health? And it doesn't harm anything doing so. We just don't know enough. But I understand your concern my dude.
well, when 3 generations are going to leach off of your success the rest of your life, you need to protect the merch
As someone who didn't like D'Angelo, one of the concerns were his knees. If Ball's knees are also an issue, that's less than ideal. We can't have a double standard about the kid we have vs. the one we gave up.
Well in the past he's had some bad "decision" makers in his inner circle...but as of late, it seems like there hasn't been any major hiccups. If not his doctors, then whoever thought it was a good idea to trot Bron on to the national media so that he had to explain the ridiculousness of his injury...well that person needs to be out of the room when Mag/Pelinka sit down with Bron this summer. If that person thought Bron would gain sympathy by wearing a cast, then they had another thing coming, cause I just saw Bron as more of an a** for the self-inflicted manner of that injury. I definitely didn't see it as nothing...but you could be right...I may be in the minority, cause in no way do I think its a phantom injury just to gain sympathy and an excuse for getting swept. Keep hating my friend...but I know you could do better. You're going to have to, once he joins our team.
so lonzo released a "diss track" of kuz like i'm almost certain it's a joke but there's a line in there about kuz not knowing his father. that's a bit much if you ask me
I'm not worried about Kuz taking the track the wrong way. I just look at it from a FA's perspective. Do I want to be a part or have some of that nonsense around me even if its just jokes. Zo is still young and I understand that. I just hope future FA that we want don't look at this negatively or think we have maturity issues because I overall I don't believe we do. These guys have fun, their young, but they also work - BI, Randle, Hart, Kuz, and Zo (who just does it more privately, less social media).
Nothin but big bro lil bro shenanigans. I'd rather have them do this then what happened with DRuss and the team prior.
