Yeah. There's that too. How many times has LaVar taken a team off the floor and forfeited for no sane reason. Then gotten his panties in a bunch two different ways and taken 2 of his own sons out of school and guaranteed scholarships at UCLA, for a grand plan instead now in Lithuania (plus wink wink home schooling for the HS kid) .... and turns that into the same type of farce and then yanks his kids again "off the floor" and quits out of that league. Do we see another pattern here? He could get pissed at who knows what and just fold the league for all they know. Plus the NBA is in process of having a new program itself for the elite players right out of HS again with some money. LaVar has shot himself, Melo and Gelo in all their feet with large caliber ammo.

He had the right idea but terrible execution on everything. He was the wrong guy to try all of this

He was the right guy to a point until he got the Big Head and thought he could do no wrong, with Lonzo's success in getting to the Lakers like he called it, and that he was entertaining .... the more of him the better.

:ShaqOh2: ... oh no page 2 rescue for the Ball family. Need to keep some levity around here.

Poor Gelo has been brainwashed by Pops to make this his employment pitch for wanting to be a Laker.

Lakers is my priority, for sure. I want to play with my brother. Ever since I played with Zo, we went undefeated. Same thing will happen when we get older. We’re just going to get stronger and faster and better feel for the game. It will be a good outcome. … I’m willing to play for other teams. That’s fine if they pick me. My priority is the Lakers. I just want to play with my brother.”

Lol, we wouldn’t waste the 60th pick on Gelo. Hell we probably wouldn’t waste a G-League spot on him. If he wants to play with his brother they’ve still got that hoop in their yard.

I have a feeling they'll give him a workout and maybe a chance to make the Defenders honestly.

Just out of respect to Lonzo and his family they'll give him a shot. It won't work out, but they'll at least pretend they tried.

I wouldn't give Lavar any other opportunity for free airtime to promote his blowhard self.

without media attention, his head will probably explode.

I saw some Bleacher Report update titled "Kobe wants LiAngelo Ball on the Lakers".

I'm pretty sure all he said was that he's open to whomever as long as it improves the team.

And it is out of respect to the game of basketball and it's quality standards that they should (imo) for no reason other than he's earned it on his own, give LiAngelo that chance. It sends all the wrong messages about our organization and takes that first step toward bending toward Lavars demands. HUGE mistake giving a kid a chance that hasn't earned it on their own. Ugh, after seeing a good guy and teacher like Andre Ingram play until he's old and grey and finally get that "Rudy" - like chance and then follow it up with greasing the way onto the team be it G team or no, due to threats forced nepotism. I personally think even if Li'Angelo were a borderline prospect you cancel any chance due to the threat alone and send the message. stfu. Though the correct thing will be to take him if he's shown the proper amount of promise and is the type of player we need without bias and I think that's how they will treat it. Very unlikely he comes.

it wasn't even that really, it was Kobe jumping in a car to leave when someone threw that at him and he barely listened, he could have been being asked "what about bringing back Smush?" It was like a "whatever" type of reponse.

    What?

How does it hurt to let the kid workout for the team? It's a workout, not a max contract.

Do you know what their scouts have said? Have you watched a lot of the kid play? And tell me again how having him in for a workout hurts anything? Many of the kids we've had in for workouts wont be drafted. What's the difference?

Do you know what their scouts have said? I know what some unidentified scouts have said and at least one GM per WOJ, I saw other reports too looking around a few nights ago.

    WOJ:
"He's not on any of our scouting lists—even the extended lists," an NBA general manager told ESPN.com's Adrian Wojnarowski.

"According to Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman, "Not one scout Bleacher Report has reached out to thinks Ball has a chance to play in the NBA anytime soon."

So again, as to why it "hurts anything" having him in for a workout under those circumstances, in other words when no one else will, It is bending to Lavar's wishes which is a precedent that doesn't need to be set and what separates LiAngelo from real prospects if he were considered for that reason. He should not become a prospect based on his dad's threats. Those other kids we worked out that didn't get drafted had some interest by some scout somewhere.
