Luol Deng Discussion: No #Dengdump, Rather Stretched Into Cash

As much as I dislike LLLLL the narcissist, his preparation and knowledge of the game would be incredible for the youngins to be around. Our young core would effectively drop his minutes and likely extend his career. There is no denying he is still effective

Our pick to Philly/Boston: will fall anywhere from 10-12 (Philly) with up to a 1% chance it goes to Philly as the overall #1 pick and up to a 2.5% chance it goes either #2 or #3 overall to Boston

The #pickwatch wasn't as fun as I thought it would be, but here's to hoping for the best now...We send Philly #12 and we get back the #22 (via the CavsPick).

 

Yep. I just hope to GOD we don't somehow jump UP in the draft and into the top 3...do NOT want to give the C Bags anything!

Best case scenario is 12th pick to Philly and we get the 22nd pick from the Cavs...although I just checked and looks like we're currently at 11th and Cavs are at 26th...but they coudl easily drop to 23rd if Indiana wins out and they lose 2 of their last 3 and Philly/Portland win out.

I'd like to surpass the Pistons though if at all possible...would be nice to only have the Clippers and Nuggets ahead of us when the season ends.

 

So interesting conundrum for the Cavs.

BK is sitting at 53 losses while NY is sitting at 52 losses. That puts them at 8th and 9th respectively when it comes to the overall pick odds. The difference between winning the lottery and picking in the top 3 is substantial between the 8th and 9th seed. The odds nearly get cut in half:

8th: top3 pick odds - 12.3%, #1 overall pick odds 3.5%

9th: top 3 - 6.1%, #1 - 1.7%

So with two games left against NY, do the Cavs try to beat them and move NY into that 8th slot and hurt their BK pick or do they purposely lose and help our Cavs pick go from #25 to as high as #22.

One thing is for sure, if Bron is definitely heading out from the Land this summer, then he wouldn't want to lose to Kanter willingly to help Gilbert out with that pick.

Btw, Brooklyn has games against the C Bags (who are locked in at the 2 and are playing for nothing) and the Bulls (active tankers) left. They obviously want to win out and hurt their pick going to the Cavs.

 

I think they will be more inclined to iron out any kinks in their play prior to the playoffs and to gain momentum. No one wants to go in the playoffs on a low note.

I don't think any team low key tanks over a few percentage points when their current goal is a championship or making the Finals.

 

Pistons locked up the 12th worst record...So the worst we can send Phillly is the 11th overall pick now. The Cats currently have one more loss than us but we got 3 more games (including today's game, which should be a L) while the Cats have one more game vs Indy (who has nothing to play for since they already locked up the 5th seed in the east).

All things considered, we're most likely sending the 10th pick to Philly.

 

CavsPick will either be 25 or 26. Cavs own the tiebreaker vs Philly. If Philly wins out (Bucks, Hawks) or if they go 1-1 and Cavs lose to NY in the finale, then the pick is 25. Otherwise its 26. Recall that Kuz was #27.

LAPick going to Philly is at best the 11th pick now. LA doesn't own the tiebreaker vs Charlotte, so only if Charlotte loses at Indy today and the Lakers win out (Houston, cLips) then we send Philly the 11th pick. Otherwise its most likely the 10th pick.....with really low chances of it going #1 to Philly (about 1%) or #2/3 to Boston (about 2%).

 

Dammit. We should trade down to 27. Y’all know why.
