    well he never fully recovered

he had been having back issues in phoenix and colliding with lillard caused nerve damage which pretty much ended his career

the point is that both of those plays are things that happen regularly in nba games, and instead of being a short recovery period, it was basically the end of those folks. it happened to kobe, too. that's what will happen to lebron.

a rockets fan friend of mine used to try to convince me that yao ming wasn't injury prone--weird stuff just kept happening. that wasn't the case. the same action hurts some and not others, and you tend to fall in the former group as you age. i know. i'm getting old.

I think it's undeniable that LeBron will hit a wall eventually, but I do not think that wall happens within the first couple seasons he's with us for a couple reasons:

    1. He's getting bounced early in the playoffs. His team just isn't good enough to get him at this stage all the way to the Finals.
    2. I don't expect him to play the same sort of minutes here during the regular season as he has previously. We'd have plenty of depth, no reason for him to play close to 40 minutes a night.

Obviously something could happen where a guy falls into him and he gets hurt, but that's true of literally anyone. Paul George broke his leg in half a couple years ago. If we're going to let that kind of injury factor into our FA decision making, we might as well not sign any FAs.

Injury and age are legitimate concerns with LeBron, but not enough that would deter me from signing him. The positives still outweigh the negatives mightily.

malone had played 18 seasons prior to joining the lakers
    nash had played 16
lebron (if he signs) would have played 15

crazy to think that 40 year old malone had played only 3 more seasons than 33 year old lebron would have. i do agree that these otherwise minor injuries can eventually end the careers of older players. just look at malone, completely healthy his entire career and had only missed a handful of games in 18 seasons before coming to LA

my main concern with lebron is the mileage. he's been in the league since 18 and since 22/23 has been deep playoff runs every season, including 7 straight finals trips and 3 olympic appearances. that is a ton of mileage

I Think Lebron will get some rest in upcoming games and Cleveland will lose to get C Bags in 1st round to elliminate them in playoffs without Kyrie

I think he has a goal of playing all 82 games though, so maybe he just reduces minutes.

He’s putting up crazy stats right now

I have a new found respect for Lebron after seeing what he does to keep himself prepared for these long NBA seasons. I completely agree with real that we would get at least two good seasons before we have to worry much.. as previously mentioned I don't like the circus he travels with but I sure wouldn't mind our young guys being exposed to that kind of dedication. I also as starting to agree he is the perfect fit with the young talent we have. Slashers, shooters, bruisers, passers and a team that likes to play defense combined with a guy that can only be contained with double teams is a good combo. Our young guys seem to be confident enough they won't be intimidated playing with Lebron. Would set us up to win the next two championships.

I'll support a James signing, but I'm feeling Houston might be in play here a lot more than we think, IMO.

I'd be fine with it honestly. If they found a way to juggle the world and get LeBron, then we move on. I personally think they're in play only because Morey will come up with some Riley-esque cheating to get guys to give up 10s of millions and re-sign for the veteran minimum. If that happens, so be it.

I also think if the Lakers sign or trade for Paul George, LeBron is coming here 100%.

I still think I'd rather assemble a team to beat him rather than have him join us.

LaBron = projected to play 82 games this year
Our youth (Zo, BI, Kuz, Hart) = have missed 56 total games already this year

Malone is a great example as to how LaBron's projected career could turn out, cause both are genetically built like football players, but Malone played more as a bruiser while LaBron played with more finesse (and flopping).

Mailman was 22 as a rookie while LABron was 19. So if there math works out as out did for Karl, then LaBron is projected to play till he's 38 (which is 4 years into a potential Lakers contract).

In the Mailman's 19 seasons, he played in 80 or more games per season in all but 2 years. When he was 36, he played in 49 games....and playing at 41 with us in his final season, he played a total of 42 games. Meanwhile, Bron in his 15 seasons has played in 80 or more games only twice. Malone played a total of 1476 regular season games while LaBron is at 1134.

Malone went to the postseason in every season of his 19 years and played in 193 playoff games with 9 seasons leading to extended runs into the playoffs. Bron missed the postseason in his 1st two years, but has gone to the postseason 13 straight times and has played in 217 playoff games with all 13 seasons leading to extended runs into May and beyond.

LaBron was always meant to be a Laker and since so many of you believed in Mitch's wand, well, maybe all the LaBron hate would've been vastly different if Mitch got his way.

Btw, the Deng contract is probably a way of Mitch paying it forward, since had he successfully dealt away Kobe for Deng, his Pau deal wouldn't have happened and Mitch would probably have gone down in history as the worst GM ever.

I’d be fine with it too, because if LeBron joined Haren and Paul in Houston, it might be an even weaker move than what Durant did, and the media would crush him for it. I don’t really see LeBron as that type of ring chaser though, the Miami thing was one thing, this would be a different level.

You know that's a fair point. Also, if they tried that the team would be built roughly like the Warriors are now: top heavy. Except this version is a few years older than the Warriors already. Seems like a good mix.

We can go ahead and throw the sink at George and maybe try to trade for Kawhi or something.

If LeBron joins the Rockets, Pringles would be fired before LeBron's plane lands in Houston. So, another silver lining.
