I’m not mad at the Brewer thing, he was NOT playing like that here, and we did him a favor by letting him go to a playoff team. That makes us continue to look like a classy org. The Clippers though, f*** them, Clippers always gon’ clip.
OKC was the best fit for Brewer with Roberson out and no real vet leader for the bench. Wish he would be a tad less effective though.
Corey Brewer: OKC is 6-0 with him in the starting lineup. In those games, Brewer is averaging 14 points, 52% FG, 50% 3P, 95% FT, 3 rebounds, 2.7 steals
He did not play like that for us, so it doesn't matter. We did the right thing, giving him a chance with a playoff team.
How is this even possible? He couldn’t make a 3 to save his life here, and he’d have maybe one 14 point game a month. I’m happy for the guy, but at the same time, what the hell man? With those numbers we’d be better off playing him than IT.
Yeah Corey rarely buried 3 pointers but sometimes made spectacular (almost) slashes to the rim for passes or with his own dribble to score and of course played pretty smart and very energetic defense. Makes no diff. PG is coming. Right? Hey ... @KareemtheGreat33 .... remember when you at least still worked and were a pilot too instead of oiling your legs and laying on your butt all day now?
He has a ton of space, firstly because everyone knows he is a streaky shooter. Then you’ve got Adams inside who is an offensive rebounding nightmare so brewer’s guy routinely try’s to help out on Adams. Also westbrook collapses the defence a lot from his pressure at the rim, so brewers man also helps out on that and lastly you can’t leave PG and Melo unguarded. So all in all, he has space and time and is on a hot streak. I doubt it’ll continue looking at his historical numbers... OKC could be great with a good 3&D SG (someone like Danny Green) and a bench scorer.
So... for some fans Westbrook isn't enough to convince Paul George to stay in OKC... But Corey Brewer on a hot streak is?
It's what happens when a player is given a lot of minutes and is presented with opportunities playing off great players.
i'm one who thinks westbrook is enough. and that a guy like brewer just plugging and playing is part of why westbrook is enough.
I agree completely. That was the point of my post. Brewer means little in this, but Westbrook is a big issue.
I think winning means a lot in convincing PG. When Roberson went down, they lost their way a bit. A large part of that has to do with Westbrook playing average defence, he just doesn’t rotate well at all and gets lost on help. Melo also gets abused on defence. Roberson erased a lot of those errors. Brewer isn’t the defender that Roberson is, but he does rotate and tries hard...
