I know someone very close to the family and that has not been what I heard literally this morning. I'm pretty sure that's just gossip, but we'll see I guess. I do know that there was massive pressure from BBB for Lonzo's gf to not have this baby. The pressure came mostly from the people around Lonzo, not from Lonzo himself. They view this as a trap even though she's been with him since before he went to UCLA. Lonzo doesn't necessarily feel that way, but he's surrounded by people who do and those are the people on social media saying things like "free man".
Giphy Oh and here's what your favorite Ball has to say about Zo's injury-proneness. So if it were up to Lavar, Luke is out not for Fitz, but probably for Thibs.
Moron. 48 minutes a game 82 games. Just like HS and College. Yeah he'd love Thibs .... until he did some little thing that LaVar didn't like.
Looked great tonight. Not the box score so much... but he makes things running so smoothly. Plays very well with IT... what's not to love?
He’s a stat sheet stuffer from all over. Assists, boards, steals, threes. There’s not much he CANT do.
Active hands and aggressive defense...Zo is making me a believer on the defensive end. Even on Wade, great D but just a crazy fadeaway and you can live with that type of shot. Also y'all notice how he doesn't jump into (ie catapult) his 3 point shot anymore? So happy that he worked on his shot. Keep at it kidd
:Randallconfused: What box score are you looking at?? 8 pts, 7 asts, 6 rebounds, 6 steals, 2-3 three, 3-5 fgs with a +24 (highest on the team) in 34 mins I'd say he stuffed the stat sheet alright
LOL, to your point Battle Tested: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...n-lakers-win-over-heat-isaiah-thomas-drops-29 Lonzo Ball Stuffs Stat Sheet in Lakers' Win over Heat; Isaiah Thomas Drops 29 ROB GOLDBERGMARCH 1, 2018 Issac Baldizon/Getty Images The Los Angeles Lakers continued their strong second half of the season with a 131-113 win over the Miami Heat on Thursday. Isaiah Thomas scored a season-high 29 points to help lead the Lakers (27-34) to their fourth straight victory since the All-Star break. Lonzo Ball finished with eight points, seven assists, six rebounds and six steals in his first start since Jan. 13. The Heat (32-30) remain in the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference. Ball had missed more than a month with a knee injury. He had played two games prior to Thursday, coming off the bench in each. He finally got the start and came through with a game-high plus-24 on the floor. He stayed within himself, only taking five shots all game, but he was exactly what the team needed. Of course, he got a lot of help from the rest of the Lakers offense in this one. Julius Randle was the star of the first half, exploding for 21 of his 25 total points, including this up-and-under finish going one-on-three: Josh Hart, who is out with a hand injury, was impressed by the performance: The Lakers scored 40 points in the second quarter and tallied 73 points in the first half behind 63 percent shooting from the field. Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel joked about the Heat defense: Los Angeles' offense remained unstoppable in the second half, but it was Thomas who stole the show from there. The point guard scored 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, knocking down six total threes while adding six assists. His play helped extend the lead and prevent any possible comeback from the Heat. Shooting 16-of-29 from three-point range as a team also went a long way. It was the seventh straight game Los Angeles reached 110 points and the third time topping 120 since the All-Star break. Dwyane Wade continued his hot play with 25 points off the bench for Miami. The degree of difficult was particularly high on one of his made field goals: The veteran was one of six players in double figures for the home team, but it was the lack of defense that made a difference in the loss. The Lakers will complete their four-game road trip Saturday with a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs. The Heat will also have a day off before taking on the Detroit Pistons.
I did not express myself clearly. Want I meant is that I did not have to look at the box score at all. He looked great out there, meaning he "passed the eye test" regardless of his numbers.
It was amazing to see this narrative spread before the draft. I remember watching the tape on him and thinking "okay he'll have some issues in man defense, but his instincts are solid". Then 2-3 talking heads say something about his defense and suddenly he's not athletic and can't defend. It was weird to me. His shooting is coming around much faster than I was expecting though.
Good point karacha. Yeah, the thing that really irritated me most about all the pundits early this season is that it was so obvious from their talk (Stephen A Smith particularly) that they weren't even watching the games. They were ONLY going by the box scores. If you watch the games you cannot help but see what Lonzo does for the team - pushing the ball, increasing the pace, with great ball movement. The ball moves more when he's out there beyond his own assists - his passing and unselfishness is contagious and guys want to share it more when he's on the court. This is why he was brought here. It was never about scoring points. The talk about him not being "aggressive" enough was garbage as well. It's not about that. It's about being the floor leader which he has been all year long. We're so much better with him than without him. I'm a Bruin so I watched him in college, but even for me I have to say his defense in the NBA has been something of a revelation. He didn't hang his hat on that at UCLA, but man is he D-ing it up for us now.
