Yeah, umm, Emplay suggesting Dallas will make a competitive offer; and that offer will start at 18 million. If that turns out to come to fruition this summer, it's bye-bye Julius.

unless of course we don't land any of our max targets; we may need to match the offer.

seems like something dallas would do. they like going after RFAs. they may even hit with a very big offer over shorter years, like they did with chandler parsons. lakers just have to hope their big FA targets give them answers prior to day one of official signing. that would give time to maneuver.

We have three days to gather info on LeBron/George. If they give us a strong indication of interest, we'll just let Randle go. In fact, we'll start making moves that they want in order to convince them to sign i.e. trading youngsters for a proven guy.

If those 2 coming here together aren't enough in their own minds combined with what's here and still need more ......

    :Nope:

That's why they need to work with Pelinka to keep Randle here. Along with BI, Lonzo and Kuzma.

not sure it matters. when you win 20 games in a season, you need help everywhere. I think the only spot they worry about redundancy is pg, where they're trying to develop smith.

they could sign randle to a deal like parsons': 3 years at near-max with the understanding that the draftee would develop during that time period (alongside or behind randle).

put it this way: if it were me, i wouldn't worry about signing a FA and drafting a 19 year old at the same spot. as we've seen, 19 year olds take time.

what would concern me is having two 19 year olds at the same spot or picking up two FAs who play the same position.

I'm hoping for the best with Randle FA situation, best case is for pg/james to take a 1mill haircut on their deals so randle can get up to 15mill per. or maybe a back loaded deal with trade kicker so he'll have the added security of knowing he'll get more $ later on if he's traded.

I loved how he channeled his inner Kobe a little after the game. Randle went and shot free throws till he got the taste out of his mouth from going 0-5 before showering and getting ready to jump on the bus.

3-3 from the charity stripe tells me all that I need to know about the guy.

Hope Mintz delivers us a discounted PG and Jules this summer.

Next year Julius will be an all Star. Hopefully it's with us not on another team.

I know a lot of folks feel $18-20M for Randle is overpaying, but I don't. In fact I feel it's insulting to offer a contract in the $12-15M range for a player of his caliber.

Look at how much these PF's and C's are getting paid. Randle is better than most players getting paid over $20M.

Bron, PG, Jules >>>>>>>>>PG or Bron, Jules all day! You can't have Jules leak into a legitimate 2nd max slot...that would be irresponsible on our part. Plus if Jules does stick with 2 max guys, all 3 dudes would have to take a cut and if anybody needs to take more off its Jules, cause he ain't in his prime yet and will make up that money when he gets there.

The market will dictate his value, but you can't take valuation from previous summers to dictate what he gets paid this summer.

Not to mention the market you play in also plays a huge factor in what free agents make....Sac for example, has to vastly overpay compared to what other markets would need to lock up free agents.

All forecasts project this market will be frigid for 2nd tier players....and lets not kid ourselves, Jules ain't a 1st tierer yet.

best case for us is for pg to opt in n okc trades him knowing hes gona sign here anyway ,ala cp3....pg will get his max season after n okc will get some minor asset an a big tpe exception rather than losing him for nothing

I can’t believe how much contact Ju gets without getting foul calls, when where someone looks at Harden it’s a damn Flagrant. Ridiculous.

I'd rather two players of Julius Randle's caliber and youth (ie Ingram + Randle) than pay $35M for a 34-38 year old Lebron, if that's what you're asking.

@Khmrp I agree....its best for all parties involved if we trade for a max guy rather than have them lose their bird rights and walk onto our roster as a free agent. Better to trade for George than LaBron cause Geoge's cap hit would be nearly 15M in savings for us.

@tada I like Jules alot, but if it costs us LaBron...no thanks. We've seen way too many seasons of potential. I want a legitimate shot at #17 and beyond now. LaBron has the pedigree and has shown that he can get teams to the Finals...till Jules shows me that, I'm siding with an aging LaBron all day.

But to be clear, I would prefer LaBron/George/Jules than just the 2 max guys. In that scenario, its impossible to get Jules 18M+ without addressing Deng appropriately or LaBron/George agreeing to substantially less than their respective maxes.

I understand the Lebron argument. But the youth movement is finally starting to click and we have a shot at building a dynasty. I'm not giving that up for an aging Lebron.
