Lakers are about done with draft picks. It's time to keep their seasoned players who are improving and add stars. We have enough 19 and 20 year olds on this team.
I wouldn’t even trade JC for a second rounder, let alone Julius the way he’s been putting it together. Laughable at best.
yup, youngest team in the league, we don't need projects anymore, We already have Zu and Bryant, great prospects, both, no need for more
2nd rounder? I would immidiately hang up the damn phone and not pick it up again. That's insulting your intelligence. Randle is expiring. Why the F would the Lakers ship him for a second rounder? I would rather finish the season strong and let him walk instead.
We are not resigning Randle th The problem is we are not keeping Randle under any circumstances. Our short-term strategy is to clear massive amounts of cap space for big free agents. Whether that’s a good idea or not is immaterial. That appears to be what we’re doing. Randle is going to get some big offers this summer and ther’s no way we’re matching them, and that’s true even if we whiff on PG and LeBron (2019 strategy). So, with that in mind, it makes little sense to keep Randle past the deadline, provided we can get something of value for him, anything really. If at the end of the day, that ends up being second round picks, that’s worth more to us than letting him walk for nothing in the summer, which we will 100% do if he’s still on the team by then.
i think the FO has been humbled, and they realize that randle may be our biggest FA signing this summer. they'll kick the tires on george/lebron, and if they need to cancel randle's bird rights to bring those two in, they'll do it. that's not much different than moving him for a second rounder, tbh. anyway, when you see stuff like this in the press, you have to think about what the purpose might be. did the lakers release this info to satisfy fans who wonder why they're not moving off randle/clarkson? or, more likely and suggested above, this is opposing teams trying to devalue the brand ("nobody wants the lakers players/the lakers FO can't out-negotiate us!"). in any case, the lakers hold the cards with respect to randle. those after him with seconds are going to have to put up a ton of cash to get him in the summer, and i'm guessing the lakers will have time to get answers from lebron and george before they have to make any decisions on randle.
Randle is here to stay for this season. He's insurance for the 2018 plan not working. Clarkson? I could see a couple scenarios where he gets dealt in the next few hours, but I think we are standing pat to see what happens with this group. If we can get up to 35 wins with this current group (which would be pretty monumental all things considered), I could see that as being enough to tempt PG13 or Lebron into coming here on their own. And Clarkson can be moved in the offseason pretty easy. It may cost us a first rounder at that point, but it'd be worth it if we KNEW it's all that was standing between and a core of LBJ/PG13/Ball/Kuzma/Hart.
Not going to lie, the "I would love to stay here....and finish the season" part had me f***ed up. If we can get him to stay for below market value (it seems like the market projects us to do that) then its a no brainer to keep him, cause it still allows us to squeeze in 2 max players. However if he walks away for nothing, for the first time, I will feel that Mag/Rob f***ed up.
keep him....so what if its looking like contract yr effort lol...his answers sound 100% more professional than bynum "theres a bank in every city" answer
Yep. If we sign Randle to a contract at 15 million per, and sign PG only this offseason, we'd be at 98 million in the summer of 2019. Clarkson would be a piece of cake to move at that point as an expiring deal. We may even be able to move Deng at that point as an expiring deal if we included a first and second rounder. I actually wonder if that story from two days ago that says we are now looking to 2019 was a result of Randle seemingly turning a corner.
I really love this kid. I've been on team Randle since he got here. He's got his growing pains and his weaknesses but I've always liked his drive, his motor, and his personality. I love what he brings to the table and he's been happy and proud to be a Laker since the beginning. I'll never forget what he did for Kobe too in that last game. He was straight up LAYING dudes out flat with those monster screens and doing everything in his power to send Kobe out with a great end to his career. It was beautiful watching the bodies fly and Kobe make those shots on his way to 60 points. Anyway, I am a fan and I've been hoping we can find some way to get two free agents and still hold on to Randle. I'm dreaming of him playing small ball 5 with Lebron and PG.
EFF YES. Please don't trade this guy. We will regret it. He needs to be re-signed. He's shown so much improvement in all facets of his game and he's gotten BETTER every year.
