Or if all things blow up for the Thunder, Melo could just opt out, sign with the Clips for the same middle 8 figure contract on his way to retirement. At least LA isn't a shabby place to live in. No flying cows.

PG does not resign and heads home. And Westbrook can finally take as many shots as he desires for the next decade.

That's the price they have pay to making things hard for us.

how does okc field a contender if they jettison all their role players? robertson was quite important to them defensively

hope? i think the answer is: employ two top 15 nba players on the same team. that's all houston's doing. you could pick up the rest of their roster from the scrapheap, imo.

okc needs adams, though. they can't move him. i'm guessing they'll try to find a way to convince melo to take less and/or leave. tell his agent that you'll give him 3/50 if he opts out, let his agent peddle that in the market. if they get a bigger offer...he walks. win/win?

put it this way: i see no possible future in which they simply decline to offer george the max. so they'll do something.

Yeah. And Capela is a nice center for them. He kinda fits in perfectly with that team.

If true, this can be looked at in 2 ways.

    1) OKC is confident that PG won't walk and that he'll reup and believe he's a better fit than Blake (which I'm sure the 2018plan denouncers will see).
    2) OKC and their cheap a** owner are not willing to throw that type of cash around and only used the Melo/PG trades as a means to lock up Russ. (which is how I choose to see it).

Russ with Griff and Adams on the frontline is imposing AF. Griff goes back to his home town of Oklahoma City, while George goes back home to LA and its a win win...but OKC didn't accept this proposed deal, so there are clearly ulterior motives here.

I'm thinking Oklahoma didn't want anything to do with that contract.

Clippers actually offered Griffin for PG? That's like Griffin for nothing considering George will be a free agent. So OKC is really going all in huh.

Oh wait. Clips' main purpose is to clear up as much payroll as they can while OKC will then be stuck with an expensive injury-prone aging Blake. Ah okay. Makes sense.

i'm unimpressed with all houston players not named harden and paul. i think they'd have no problem replacing almost all of them with low-dollar vets. hell, two of their most important role players this year (mbah a moute and tucker) were scrapheap pickups.

capela's great for what they do, but he's really not a very talented basketball player. i bet nerlens noel is like: wtf, man?

Gordon n ariza arent easily replaced for low dollar players n noel is trash or at least his opinion of himself is...if noel was capable of playing at capela lvl he'd be on the floor, Carlisle is a smart coach n loves defensive player n clearly hated playing noel, makes you wonder....as for your heap comments that only applies to luc, tucker is getting 7-8mill, that's not low dollar player

disagree on pretty much all of it. noel's obviously got problems, but his game is very similar to capela's (not sure what you're seeing there unless it's just stat watching). dantoni would play him. dantoni and carlisle don't like the same types of players. dantoni didn't like pau. who doesn't like pau? a coach who only values support players as dudes who stand and wait to take bail out threes or roll for dunks.

tucker will be a vet min-ish whenever his deal runs out. and there are other tuckers at the vet-min-ish.

Yep, if Bennett ain't going to pay for OKC's hometown boy in Blake, then why hand George a similar bag? He's already got his moneymaker in Russ locked up, so I'm sure that dude is fine with running Russ through the ground with or without any help.

Also, I really think this OKC team is a regular season team, cause in the playoffs they will get exposed.

And on that note, LA better run through that Orlando team tonight.

hes not a vet min player at the moment n thats all that matters to this current argument, find me players contributing on ariza/gordon lvl making vet min...mda didnt like pau cause he didnt shoot 3s, carlise a defenisve coach didnt like noel who supposedly by advance metrics is suppose to be very good defensively, so yea your argument dont fly here n Noel aint signing for vet min either even with his terrible season, some gm out there will still see that advance metric noel n offer 8-10m easy

Lol I never knew the discussions went THAT out of hand. Jeremy Lin had a fun ride under DAntoni. Clark and Lin gotta be the biggest guys to jump out of a bush and gave Mike starter worthy production lol.

there's three every year. it's part of why he and morey get along so well: they give zero f***s about the role players.

I really thought Capella was a solid big man for today's NBA. Other than him nobody random is ballin out of control no? Anyways let's see how good they are come playoff time... For the 10th time as far as a D'Antoni team goes.
