i thought that too...he should try to draw 1 offensive foul on purpose early in gm but the opponents will "feel" that hit for the whole gm lol

Yeah. I was saying in the Gameday thread that he should be attacking Horford off the dribble a little more. I don't think Horford has the quicks to guard Julius on the perimeter, but Horford is a sneakily strong guy and he and Julius really battled. Both of them will come away bruised from that one. On the other end, like you said, Julius can recover out to Horford so I liked the match-up for him defensively. Interesting and fun battle though between an All-Star and a young guy.

Man, if Julius only had a right hand, he'd be a lot more difficult to guard.

Everyone knows he wants to go left, and when he's down low in the paint, he really only has one option of heaving up a wild left hook. Some footwork and a right hand would do wonders for his paint game.

With better handles, and mostly one hand lol, but might not be a bad comparison

    good comp, impact-wise.

i think mason actually had a stronger handle (in part because he could use both). but randle is WAY faster.

i don't think so. mason was a horse. couldn't move that guy.

I do think Randle is even a bit stronger. And Mason was a tank. Randle's got this natural beastly strength that is out of this world. He's almost a smaller Shaq out there to my eyes - dudes just start flying when he goes at it down low. And Randle has that crazy athleticism for his size - he's just so quick. He's a handful for sure.

still disagree. bodies fly when randle's on the move, but randle can be moved around by the centers in the league. mason couldn't.

Mason was a wide body, and had legs for arms.

I have to add that I thought Randle had a clean swipe off Irving when they had him doubled baseline...

If Randle were to be traded to some place he was not happy with .... say somehow in a package to Cleveland take it or leave it Gilbert because you know The Chosen One is not coming back .... does Cleveland or anyone else where he might not want to be .... retain his restricted FA rights? They could match any other team's offer to sign him in the off season? That's one conceivable way Julius could get screwed for a period of time if so. Just wondering. I know Vash .... we don't owe him anything ... no need to repeat.

But salaries nowhere near matching unless a whole bunch of guys gone for LeBron. But somewhere else?

Yes. That's the nature of the contract and business, hence why we really have the leverage over Dallas in any deal.

We need a tough Big that is a scoring threat as well as tough defense. If LBJ comes but PG is happy being RW's Tonto out there on the OK prairie and Boogie likes it where he is, we could do a whole lot worse than signing Randle again. I could actually get pretty excited about keeping Randle and pairing him next to LBJ at PF with Ingram at the 3 and Kuzma wreaking havoc in that 3-4 rotation alongside LBJ and Ingram and Randle and hopefully a decent rim protector who's got actual 5 size with also some scoring skills. Zubac? Bryant?

Randle giving the most positive, happy, all smiles post game interview I’ve ever seen from him. Told a great story about his kid. I guess winning really does cure all. 8 wins in our last 10, that’s tremendous. I’d be very hesitant to trade Randle at this point after all if the best we can get is a late 1st, for reasons that have all been mentioned before. If we strike out elsewhere and can keep him for “cheap” it might end up being worth it. If he gets a huge offer elsewhere and we don’t want to match, so be it, but I dunno, I’ve flip flopped so much on him, yet I don’t really want to see him go right now because it WILL cost us games if he isn’t replaced in a trade by a decent player. Same with JC, these guys are getting us wins, the 2018 plan has got to be weighing on the minds of Rob and Magic every day all day right now. Need to shed salary to sign star free agents, but need to appear competitive to attract said free agents.
