They do, but part of that is also emblematic of a young team as well. Most of these players don't actually know any other position than the one they practice. They're too new to know much else. That's why when Lonzo is out or Ingram is out (or God forbid both), we see guys consistently confused and the offense is thrown out the window. When guys who are hardly with the team like Caruso are given minutes and he's standing in the same spot as Kuzma, it's a problem.

For fun, watch how many guys make the same cut tonight because they both think they're supposed to run that part of the set. Part of this is a young, not so talented team (when the "big guns" are sitting).

nailed it. the team had plenty of opportunities to do this and declined for some reason.

^^^We did try to get Rondo (chose instead to play with Boogie), Rose (chose instead to play with LeBron), Hill (chose instead to play the money game) during free agency. That tells us that we bring in some star power and these 2nd tier signings come more to fruition if they know they're coming to a team that already has a star. If Pritchard wasn't such a hickory d***ory dock, I'm sure PG would have lured in one of these dudes.

Woj reported on (and Tania confirmed) the Randle-Noel swap, but I would like to think LA was angling to get D.Harris in that deal as well.

Zo does need a mentor/backup vet PG in the worst way.

i was against rose and rondo. i meant vet backup. low money, like ray felton. i suggested teodosic before the clips signed him, too. just seemed like an obvious need, but we went for the name in kcp. that he's a name signing for us makes me sad in the pants.

Again, I hate to say it but I'll just be score checking until Lonzo is back. Too hard to watch without him. Lonzo is our offense basically. He sets everything up and without him we are just not a functioning team. If we had a vet backup worth his salt we wouldn't be this bad, but we don't. I'll start watching again when he returns.

Too much iso and no ball movement when he’s not in there. Everyone ends up ball watching and trying to do their own thing, our assist numbers are putrid.

Honestly it's pretty interesting to watch them without Lonzo just because you can really see the dynamics at play. Right now the team is completely disjointed. Nobody knows where anybody is supposed to be and it becomes interesting to see how certain players deal with it. Right now Kuzma is confused about his role or at least questioning it. Randle is trying to play the same role as he usually would with guys who aren't used to playing with him. Hart is still trying to figure out how and when to shoot in the pros. Bogut might be the only one who knows the sets and is trying to execute them.

They're a complete mess. I'm not sure Lonzo solves all the problems now. Hopefully we don't put that expectation on him when he gets back.

I maintain the “Cool Hand Luke” approach works with a team of seasoned vets but not with young pros.

In Golden State he had experience all stars that All had college experience.

The expectation that he could come in and run things the same way here with unproven talent with very little college experience was just naïve on managements part

They are still learning the game

Most the time we are playing glorified pick up Ball, and it’s hard to watch.

I’m sure it’s frustrating for him, for management, for players, and for fans. It’s ugly

I think it is really amazing how lost our guys look without Lonzo. This just tells you how good he actually is, and people are talking about his shooting like that is the most important thing in the world. Now, think about it - our team pretty much depends on two rookies. And a 20-year old Brandon Ingram. Is that actually good or bad?

the fact that nobody knows what they're doing in late december is downright frightening. either the coaching staff isn't doing its job or the players are thick as bricks. either case calls for a change, and my money's on the latter.

My money is honestly on the former, although the youth of our team points a little to the latter. I think our staff has kept guys in very specific roles in order not to put too much on their plate at one time. That's okay early on, but we're too far into the season for this to be true today. Our guys shouldn't be so confused today. I think Ingram, Hart, Kuzma, Nance, Lonzo, and even Caruso are young but smart enough to tackle a full amount of the playbook at this point.

Bogut honestly to me feels like the only one who truly understands the expectations of the play every time offensively. Everyone else is confused and a lot of that has to fall on Luke too. Maybe he's just not suited to coaching young guys.
