He needs to correct the way he lands on his jumpshot for sure. No one jumpshot looks the same, based on a loose eyeball test. He can retain some funkiness to his jumpshot, but the way he lands after the release needs to have some symmetry and resemblance with the rest of his jumpshooting catalog. IMHO, he definitely needs to work on that over the summer and I believe time in the gym should rectify at least some of that. However during the season, he can work on his floaters and angles off the backboard on layups. The way he attacks the paint should be his emphasis ASAP, rather than working on his longball. If he needs to work on a jumper, it should be the transition pull up from FT line variety or elbow curls. Work on the long ball form in the summer. Again, I do think he needs to change something cause his athleticism and length can only take him so far before the opposition eliminates any chance his J has due to its lower apex. He tends to step back and catapult or side step and launch due to the way he favors his release to the left of his head. As a result he continuously lands different with every jumper he takes. That does not have a recipe for longevity in this league. He was getting that shot off in college and summer league cause he isn't facing the freak athletes that the NBA presents on almost a nightly basis. He is heady and confident (duh, he's Lavar's son)...so I'm not thinking its really a head issue. He's shooting a historical low cause his shot needs work. I think its pretty obvious you guys.
im glad murry pulled that bush league move on ball...Zo says he fine with his pops talking, thats the result of your pops talking
Eh. That was weak, but not that big a deal. Julius and Brandon did the right thing but if that's the retribution for his father's words, I'm not shaking in my boots.
Murray is a little punk for doing that to Lonzo, f*** him. Good on Randle and Ingram for coming over and standing up for their teammate and saying something. Murray wouldn’t pull that crap on Randle, and he sure walked away from him real fast after Randle intentionally fouled him there.
Part of me wants Zo to lay him out as well. But if he shows that s*** like this can get to him, then the entire league will try to antagonize the kid even more. Kudos to Zo for dirtin his shoulders off on petty things like this. Still, if it happened to a teammate, dude better be more eager in getting a tech at that time. Also, next time we see the Nugs, we need to start the game off with one of our frontline players laying Murray's a** out on a nasty pick.
Glad Julius and Ingram got in there, glad Zo didn't react either. If the roles were reversed I would expect the same as well. Hope BroLo or Nance or someone wrecks him in the lane next time we face them.
I dunno what it is but lookin at Murray makes me think of him as a lil jealous prick. But good to see zo didnt bother with it. Probably didnt think much of it honestly. Glad to see randle and ingram have zo's back tho.
you're right always liked bogut for his hard-nosed style. he's old school, not looking to make any friends out there
Zo’s stoicism is starting to come off as him being aloof. Maybe too early to tell, but he needs more passion, to bring more dog to the fight. A bland point guard is boring and doesn’t inspire, especially a young team.
I am tired of his attitude and everything surrounding "Ball". I think maybe a run with the 2nd unit would do him well. Right now he is not helping at all.
i don't care how he reacts to fights and slights. i do care about his inconsistent impact and engagement.
we use to kill dlo for his inconsistency, especially shooting but Ball with his sub 20% from 3s continues to mostly take 3s hardly ever gets criticized
Wouldn't the calf tightness been avoided with a better diet (more veggies, etc.)? Lonzo's diet looked terrible based on Ball in the Family. This tightness might explain why he was off in the past few games.
Ball does other things than score, and he was never expected to be a scorrer unlike Dlo, so I think more people will give him some time to start shooting better before really coming down on him.
Lonzo is a very confusing player. Some nights like against GS and Denver (athome), he looks like a superstar. Other nights, he looks like a total bust. We'll have to deal wit this all year probably. Don't expect him to blaze trails until 2nd or 3rd year. My only hope is that seeing how Ingram is in Year 2 compared to Year 1 is something we might see with Lonzo.
so did russell, he still avg close to 5asst, while ball doesnt look like he half a** gms like dlo at times, stat lines like yesterday on service would paint similar picture of half assing
It's called being a rookie. I understand some players are more consistent than others, but that's the chance you take with 1 and done players. They're still young, still acclimating to the league, still growing in their bodies. We saw that with Ingram last year. I think it's even tougher when you're brought in, and expected to be "the face of the franchise", to go out and run and offense full of NBA vets, get on everyone's level, all the while being scrutinized daily by media outlets because they have nothing better to talk about. What's encouraging is everything else that he's doing. The rebounding, the defense, the IQ and the level-headedness. For the most part he's been healthy, I'm sure the NBA season grind has been taking a toll, but that's what the training staff is there for. The scoring will come, he'll start developing confidence in his shot again, add more to his repertoire, and improve on his all around skills that most PG's in the league can't even scratch the surface with him.
