Needs time with Ball out there to develop. Randle's hard rolls to the basket off screens takes the defense with him freeing our point guard for an open shot or a driving lane. Come up on the perimeter and Ball will find him for easy scores near the basket. Need to learn each other's tendencies to make the proper reads. Won't happen if they are not together for extensive periods. Randle also played decent pick and rolls with Ingram tonight...
Great game Julius and especially in the clutch moments. But he's still driving me nuts with his hands at his sides in his man to man defensive crouches. I don't understand the staff not correcting that.
I only saw the second half but Randle was amazing tonight. Good attitude, efficient, played some D and didn't do too many head scratchers on offense. Hit a huge three and was an emotional leader on the court. Kudos to him.
Omg. Think were all eating some humble Randle-pie and damn it tastes good! He played like a dog tonight and definitely do not win without him. +extra bonus points for taking on guards and forcing bricks.
Randle kinda looked "Draymondesque" at times on defense in the 4th quarter. I'll never expect him to ever be as consistent as Draymond at that end of the floor, but if we can even get 50% of what Dramond does out of Randle, I'll be thrilled.
I was gonna say that but didnt want people thinking i was high out of my mind at 315 am lol. He definitely played some hella Draymond-esque D and was great on switches. Played more in control. Think i only saw 1 bad TO.
Great game from Randle, we don't win without him. Hopefully, his effort in getting us the win shows Luke how valuable he can be going forward.
X factor tonight. Luke is going to have to find him more playing time. If the match up works, Randle as the small ball 5 seems to be working. Gives us a different look as oppose to the slow Brook and Bogut or undersized Nance.
It warms my heart seeing so much positivity in this thread. As Randle's 2nd or 3rd biggest fan (@tada ) I'm glad he could have this sort of game to really impact play on the floor again. Hopefully he can channel this. He wasn't just effective in one on one situations, he was feeling it in help situations too which is the kicker. That play on Wall at the end was gorgeous and well executed. If played like that every game, he'd be starting without question and nobody would be considering him someone we need to get rid of. Also, something not everyone is talking about: the three! What a shot! Hopefully that'll give him confidence to pull from outside more often.
I just wanna come back on this and say once again...Randle was the player of the game by a wide margin. Mainly for me, it was the work he did on the DEFENSIVE end. If he brings that every night, the Lakers are going to be tough to beat. The knock on Randle has been defense. He seems to be making strides to correct that. I want to see him and Ball together more too. Stay tuned folks. Randle is gearing up
As much I love Brook Lopez as a player it was apparent he was a liability defensively especially in the screen and roll. That’s where Randle really excelled. I always hoped he could develop into one of these new generation bigs who could switch and play that screen and roll and he seems to be finally developing into that.
Ju's engaged one on one defense is definitely underrated. Set good screens down the stretch to setup some big plays, and brought energy. This is the Julius we need every night.
his screen still look half-a**...man if this dude set screens like bogut i bet a lot defenders will tire out as gsme progresses constantly running into his big body
I do agree they leave a lot to be desired, but they were better towards the end of the game, giving Lonzo some space to penetrate and KCP that corner three.
i want to see his entire body engluf the guy hes screening, most of his screen only half his body is screening. to me he wants to hedge his screen to much so he can come out of it or slip it sooner. i just think with his girth, if he screens like bogut it'll punish opponents n wear them down, as a guard can you imagine how grueling itd be running into all of randle all gm long lol
He can definitely improve, but part of that is also on the guard taking the screen. Got to take a tight angle.
