Agreed, I'm sick of the Randle hate. He was the best player on the court today and has the stat line to prove it. I don't like Nance starting at all. He is way too limited out there in terms of skills. Hustle? Sure, Nance brings that. An alley oop dunk once every game or every other game for the highlight reel? Sure, he does that. But as long as Nance continues to pass up open shots and lay goose eggs for the most part on the offense out there he just isn't bringing enough to the table to be a starter. Great game from Randle tonight. But I want to see him out there with Lopez. I did like him playing alongside Kuz as small ball center. It worked. I thought it would and said so earlier in this thread for the record.
His best game came from coming off the bench, paired with Kuz and JC and that could be a crazy punch off the bench. I do want to see him next to Lopez though but I think he does better not next to Ball.
I just came in here to say something similar. I believe that is our best starting lineup, and I do believe Ingram will get it together eventually, but we wont see it because Ingram has been prematurely anointed and isn't ready for the pressure. Randle has certainly shown improvements in every area of his game.
He is lazy screener, they should actually be offensive foul since hes using hips and his butt for those lazy screen
He's definitely a repeat offender. Ironically Kuzma is also a terrible screener and yet they've probably been the most effective players in our screen game.
It works for both honestly because Randle is wide enough to create a little space with or without contact, but it would be much better if Randle actually made contact more of the time.
poor screening is ridiculous to me. these are professionals who have played basketball for decades. put a body on someone. it changes everything.
Especially given randle girth...screen effectively enough time could wear out defenders, imagine running into all of randle constantly, shame hes either terrible at it or very lazy
To be fair here Kuzma does a lot of fake screen and fade action. But you are right in that he needs to make more contact or not fad to the perimeter as quickly. I just think this is a combination of needing to work on setting screens and the type of action Kuzma likes to run off of screening for his teammate.
Randle on the open floor on a dead run is runaway train... I was wondering what took Walton so long to get him in the game in the third. Did not locate Gobert who highlighted him on that put-back slam. Did OK.
didn't see the end of the game or the box score yet, but i thought this was a bad game from randle. utah always gets him, it seems.
I thought he played well, especially towards the end. We probably would have had a better shot winning with Kuzma/Randle finishing the game, instead of bringing in ISOgram and Lopez who had been sitting on the bench for 2 hours.
The bench outplayed the starters by a large margin last night. Our best lineups included Randle. The problem at the end of the game with going small is that Randle just couldn't contain Gobert on the boards because of his size. But bringing back Lopez didn't help either - we still lost. Agreed with tada - we should have had Kuzma and Randle finish the game alongside Lopez because Ingram ISO ball sealed our loss in a big way. Randle's box score wasn't great especially percentage wise, but his activity was infectious and while the starters were behind all game, the bench was leading most of the game.
