I can see kuz starting towards the end of the season if he keeps this up. Like all rooks he will struggle a bit.
So freaking happy to see him play like that. He makes the game look simple. Open shot? Take it. They close out? He attacks the rim. Open player? Pass it. Rebound. Dribble. Take shots in the flow of the offense. Why can't everyone play like that (Cough*Randle*Cough) ?
It looks like Kuz is the real deal, but he has a Rep for being streaky in college. I need to see him do this consistently for a while before starting him. Still I hope we're just seeing what he can do playing in the right offense.
gotta figure out where he plays best, too. he was at 3 and 4 last night. felt like he got pushed around a bit against minny's 4s on d. he has quicker feet than i thought (at first glance, i thought that was going to be a problem), so i'd try him at the 3, primarily. but i'm just a guy.
As of now, he's the guy I'm leaning towards starting this year. There was someone who called it earlier this summer and I scoffed. I could very well be eating crow on that. I agree that it's too early to make that call, but Nance and Julius are on notice. No hard feelings, but this kid is outperforming any and all expectations and he's coming for your job. Right now, if I have to he's my backup 3 but it's fluid. Right now my bench is probably: Clarkson/Brewer/Kuzma/Nance/Zubac Not much shooting, but tons of energy and hustle. Pretty soon I'll replace Clarkson with Ennis, but we need to boost Clarkson's value.
Even if Kuzma is streaky...he won't back off from attacking if there is a lull. It's a long season and he'll hit the proverbial wall eventually. Will it stop him? Nah...
I jumped on the Kuzma bandwagon early mainly because he seemed to have a higher hoops IQ than Randle and a better shot than either him or Nance. Nothing has happened to make me think any differently.
I’ll add that I think this is one time that not knowing anything about him actually helped. I think most questions about him stemmed from seeing him at Utah.
That little strech he had in the 3rdQ was better, than anything Ingram showed us at any point in his career
I want to remind no y'all that I called it after seeing his workout raw footage. I want to be the driver of the Kuzmagon.
